Ameristep hayhouse blind,
October 20, 2009
By jbkj2009
from Michigan
|
"I liked the price of the blind - was a little disappointed with the setup instructions: it had the color of poles mixed up and where they went - and the steps to fold it back up were really lacking. After an hour of trying - i finally got it back in the bag. One of the pockets was not cut for the poles - so I had to cut that sleeve myself. The lid release was not centered on the blind - and the roof does not seem to fit like I expected it to fit. Over-all - the quality of manufacturing of the product seemed to be lacking."

Goose Opener,
September 10, 2009
By MarshXman

|
"Sept. 1st is opening day for goose in Wisconsin. I set up my new Ameristep Hayhouse Blind on Monday evening-wow- that blind sets up easy and fast-not a two man job! It was foggy Tues. morning so the geese were flying really low-the flip back top makes for quick access for firing. Loved the zip sides for the dog to leave the blind-instead of him jumping over the side. My group shot 14 geese that morning. Love my new purchase and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks"

Haystack blind,

"I got this with my Cabela points. So far I am pleased with it. Haven't used it in the field yet but have practiced setting it up and repacking it. Easy to set up but folding it back up takes alot of practice. Gives more options for hunting geese in open fields."

"While I haven't had the chance to use this blind yet, it is very easy to set up and affords plenty of room for two hunters. Tie downs are placed in the proper positions to secure the blind and interior access is easy. The rip-cord opening works to perfection. Can't wait for our resident goose season."

Blind,
January 27, 2009
By Botis
from Wellston, OK
|
"The set up is easy, the ability to disguise it with native grasses is outstanding. The quick release is medium at best. However the quality of construction is below average. Mine stated to come apart at the seams upon it's second use. Lastly it is very very difficult to pack and store. I now just store it flat as I can no longer get it to fit into the supplied back pack. So while the applicable use is supurb the quality of it's construction is not."

Solid Product,

"I at first bought the Otter three man blind and found it to be impossible. I sent it back and used the credit to purchase two Hay House blinds and I love them. They are easy to use. Light weight to pack in. Very easy to assemble. This is the first Ameristep product that I have truly given a thumbs up to. I can handle my dog within the tent, the only thing missing is a dog door!"

Good Design So So Quality,
December 27, 2008
By Windrow
from Volta CA
|
"The good part: Well designed, functional flip lid, reasonably stable, stout floor, good camo--on blind body. That I can recommend.
What I didn't like: Cheesy taffeta case & zippers matched with nice shoulder straps-- guess what's gonna fail. Cheesy shock cord in poles (one snapped before it ever reached the field) and so-so poles I don't expect to last. If this was even an economy tent the pole quality would be better.
Bottom line: A 400 denier or so cordura case and better poles would easily earn six stars.
FYI I added white cloth tape to code the poles with 1, 2, 3, 4 strips so it can be assembled by touch at O'Dark Thirty if necessary."

Good portable blind,
December 2, 2008
By Anonymous
from east central Illinois
|
"I like the blind and it worked well in bad field conditions Sunday, but it is difficult to get back into the carrying case. This is especially true after a wet day and the dogs have been mudding the inside all day. The directions are lacking in the technique used to get it back into the carrying bag. It would greatly improve the blind to add a larger more heavy duty zipper to the carrying case, and make the case an inch or two larger so it is easier to get it back in the case after a long day."

Good Blind in a quickly needed situation,

By JEFF84

"We have used this blind when we have been hunting public land. The backpack feature is nicely designed. Needs to be able to break down easier. But overall a nice blind. Other downside is mine don't set up even...one side is slanted down."

Ameristep hay house blind,
September 29, 2008
By kash
from Pasadena, MD
|
"A nice blind for the money, looks good and accomodating for 2 hunters. A lot of sticks to put together though and I was surprised to see that it had a floor. I will have to cut the floor out to use in marsh grass. Probably will be OK in a flat feild. I was intending to use in a marsh so the loops around the blind will be great for adding natural surroundings so that it does not have to look like a hay bale."

"This was a very great blind, veryy light, much lighter than a layout, also much easier on the pocket book. By myself i found the blind very easy to set up, and after figured out, easy to take down. once i left the blind to get another box of shells, and from 50 yards away this blind was IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE. A very good use of money."

Hayhouse Blind,

"I purchased this blind for its portability and easy set up and both have exceeded my expectations. I carry it to the field and set it up in total darkness (with a flashlight). So far it has been durable, I handle things roughlly and it has stood up to some pretty gusty winds."

Field blinds,
January 12, 2008
By Bill0423
from Michigan
|
"I bought two hay stacks this fall to hunt corn fields. They worked just like they are made to. They are not made the best but for the price you get 2 or 3 years out of them I will be happy. These are great for two man. I take my 5 year old and he fits well also in the blind with two people. Try one. Bill"
