"Excellent kit. Was lucky I never needed one but it is an absolute necessity if you hunt a lot with your dog. Hope I never need to use it on the young dog I have now"

Dog First Aid kit,November 3, 2008
By DukesGrandmafrom Petaluma, CA
"This is the best first aid kit I have ever purchased. I has everything that you would need to treat your dog in the field or even just at home. Although I hope I never have to use it, it gives me relief to know I have it. I take it everywhere we go with the dogs. I would definitely recommend this product if you take your dogs camping, hunting, or if they are just plain active!"

Came in handy right away!,September 5, 2008
By marlapffrom Ramona, CA
"Ordered this kit mainly due to the body stapler being included.
We live rurally, and have many biting critters, barbed wire and other hazards around the property. Our 2 German Shorthaired Pointers are EXTREMELY active. We are about an hour's drive from nearest animal ER. We also enjoy camping and off-roading in the desolate dunes in Southern California.
I figured that this first aid kit was a safe bet for our 2 dogs, "just in case."
I was right! Sure enough, a few weeks after receiving this first aid kit, one of the dogs got a large skin tear from some fencing. A jagged, nearly 4" wound No bleeding, thankfully. Just needed to be cleaned and closed.
We used an electric hair trimmer to shave the area around the wound, use the included "Triadine" antiseptic/germicide to prep the wound and then applied 10 staples. We also had the disposible human body stapler in our first aid kit that we purchased from Cabela's. We used both staplers and followed with an antibiotic ointment, Keeping it clean and dry in the meantime.
2 days later, the wound is healing well with no signs of infection. The staples are doing their job. Saved us a trip to the animal ER!
For the price of this kit, I would have like to see a few more items included. Mainly, some sort of large wound coverage designed specifically for animals with fur. Possibly a shaver. More antibiotic ointments. And, some sort of PAIN killer spray and/or anti-inflammation medication.
I've included coated aspirin for pain and the antihistamine Diphenhydramine (such as the brand name Benadryl) for insect or rattlesnake bites, and other allergic reactions. Check with your Veterinarian for safety and dosages.
Overall, if supplemented with additional items from your Vet or drug store, this kit is a great starting point for hunters, campers, and country folk with dogs."

Med Kit for Fido,August 7, 2007
By Bigflat
"I have spent many years afield providing first aid to my dogs. It took awhile to corral all the necessary compenents to provide reasonable care. Some items I had to beg for from my vet. This product has it all for any person who owns a dog, not just hunters. I carry the emt gell and stabler in my upland vest. Highly recommend...wouldn't mind seeing all the compents in a hard case vs the soft one provided."

"I hunt with my vet, and he said this is the best first aid kit out there. I also recommend throwing in a tin of bag balm for their pads or abrasions. It just fits in the bag."

"I got this kit before I went on a week long hunting trip.I only had touse it a few times, for stuff in the dogs eyes and minor scrapes. It seems if I needed something to patch my dog up I was ready. We dont gohunting without it. Its proballymissingafewthings for vets and pro dog handlers ,but for us only being a hour or two from a vet I feel I could patch him up and make it there."

Sporting Dog First Aid Kit,November 20, 2006
By TFIIIfrom Bellingham, WA
"I have four active hunting dogs and try to spend as much time in the field as possible. In looking for a first aid kit that covers as many injuries as possible, this is the kit I settled on. It has about everything that could be needed in an emergency far from veterinary assistance. Included is a staple gun to close cuts. The carrying case is excellent and keeps a large assortment of supplies well organized and in a reasonably small space. It has about everything I can think of for canine first aid. This product is highly recommended."
