packing a load,
December 16, 2008
By 0440
from Texas
|
"I walk 4 to 5 miles a week, 2 to 4 times a week with a 60# load lashed to the pack. Compared to a decent to a good day pack it feels like about a third of the weight. I think I could carry twice that load if I needed too. For carrying a heavy load I would highly recommend this frame."

Not light, but very comfortable,
November 29, 2008
By Trailworker
from the Boondocks
|
"For packing in a chainsaw to remove deadfall trees from hiking trails, this pack frame is ideal. It has a good, adjustable suspension and the most comfortable, easy to adjust hip belt that I have ever used. I'm used to lighter internal frame packs but needed this one for that specific work. Highly recommended if you need a frame-only rig for heavier loads."

"these are great for hauling materials for trail projects - we bought 3 for our trail maintaining group after trying out one that a friend had brought for use at a trail project where we were hauling 50-60 pound loads a mile into the project site - we have been very pleased with them"

Will pack your elk out comfortably and fast,
August 5, 2008
By cherokeeskinartist
from Elk Camp, Colorado
|
"A well rounded pack for all types of hunting. Leave at camp and after the harvest, you can't pack an elk in one trip. Take a portion and return to camp. Eat, rest and gear this thing up and go get the rest without discomfort or troubles. An excellent buy for the price."

Alaskan Pack frame,
July 27, 2008
By xcubuff86
from Boulder, Colorado
|
"Received the Alaskan frame as a birthday gift several years ago and have had the good fortune of packing out several elk and deer some being trophies. This frame is ideal especially for the hunter who goes the extra mile to find and down game in remote areas. Versatile, adjustable and comfortable. The padded hip belt is a life saver and the shelf keeps your load on the frame."

Alaskan Pack Frame,
March 4, 2008
By FlyFAmerica
from West Chester, PA
|
"This is a necessary evil. Use it when you get an elk down and have to get it out in pieces. It has a fold down shelf that supports the load and many places to lash to. We keep a couple of these in camp with our butchering kit, bags, knives, sharpening steels, etc and when we need it, it's ready. Keep cord wrapped around it for storage. It's comfortable, adjustable, has an extendable top bar and comfortable shoulder straps and hip belt. It does a great job for packing."

Alaskan Frame,
February 21, 2008
By BowBill
from Idaho
|
"This pack frame replaces an Alaskan frame that I have used for thirty plus years that is still servicable. The newer hip belt buckle is much easier to release with a heavy load on the frame. If it stands up to the use/abuse that my old one has, then it will outlast me. Thanks for a great product!"

"Purchased one Cabela's Frame Pack in 2007 for packing out meat. Used it during 2007 elk archery season in Colorado. Frame Pack was comfortable and easy to secure meat. The Frame Pack really fit our needs. Purchased two more in 2008 and retired our other frame packs."

Pack Frame,
February 13, 2008
By Predhunter
from Longmont CO
|
"I purchased the pack frame for a late season January Elk hunt. This season requires you to pack in more gear (ie.clothes, food, safety equipment, etc.) then a normal backpack would hold. I discovered that I could attach my backpack to the pack frame and made it more comfortable then caarying the backpack itself. Unfortunatly I did not get to attach a hind quarter too it to try it out. But, that wasn't the frames fault."

Lite and comfortable,
September 18, 2007
By SDhunter31
from Sioux Falls, SD
|
"Have yet to use it in the field, but it feels very light and is confortable with it on. I like that it does not have pins, but adjsutable straps and hooks for moving the harness to different positions. Some other packs have load pins with split rings and would not be good in a hunting situation. The harness is of high quality compared to others I have seen up close. The fold up load support is another nice option in case you don't need it or attach a large pack or load."

Duane,
November 20, 2006
By Duane
from Rio Rancho, NM
|
"Orginally we bought the alaskan II backpacks with the frames . Since then we de-tached the pack part and just use the frames. We have had much comfort packing the elk quarters out in trips over 3 miles. It rides well on your hips for support, can't say enough good things about them. This fall my youngest son needed a packframe for the hunt. After thankfully purchasing him one, we put it right to good use. This fall in colorado the first season we packed out 3 elk about 2 1/2 miles. We made the trip, thankfully! The frames make it a lot easier on us."
