Garmin Rino 130 GPS Radio,January 22, 2009
By warubozu65from Kamuela, HI
"The radio works really well although I was a bit disappointed in the short range it covers (only 2 miles). The GPS works well in the mountains of Hawaii and I am able to find my way with great ease. The only other thing I would recommend to Garmin is to install a lithium battery so when changing the regular batteries, you do not have to calibrate the unit again."

Garmin Rino 130,September 27, 2008
By JesseQtheBodyfrom Saranac Lake, New York
"After using an eTrex last season, I decided to upgrade to the Rino 130. I've been using it a lot lately while hiking in the Adirondacks, marking trail heads and summits. The tracklog is a nice feature, allowing you to see detailed trail information after a hike is over. The weather radio is a great feature; I usually turn it on when I get to a summit. Will also use it this hunting season. A very nice GPS."

By RazCfrom Oregon
"The Garmin Rino 130 is a great GPS. My husband & family have had them for a few years now & I finally got mine. They are wonderful for hunting & keeping in touch. Also, it's great to be able to find someone's position even if they don't call you. Very reliable & durable. I highly recommend this product."

RINO 130 TOUGH,April 15, 2008
By iceman1from SEVEN VALLEYS, PA
"THE 130 IS THE PERFECT HUNTING SIZE GPS AND IT IS TOUGH..I OWN 2 OF THEM NOW..I DROVE OVER MY 3 YR OLD 130 WITH MY 4-WHEELER AND ONE OF THE TEETH ON THE TIRE CHAINS CRACKED THE SCREEN..I BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE TO REPLACE THAT ONE, BUT IT TURNS OUT THE OLD ONE WORKS JUST AS GOOD NOW AS IT DID BEFORE..EVEN IN THE RAIN & SNOW. HAVING THE WEATHER REPORT AT YOUR FINGER TIPS IS GREAT WHEN SITTING IN STAND ALL DAY, 2 WAY RADIO & MAPSOUCRE PRODUCTS MAKE THIS THING ROCK!!! THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT!!"

Great concept/Average Reliability,September 14, 2007
By ElkHuntn101from Western WA
"I love the fact that you can have everything you need (GPS, compass, altemeter, radio, etc...) in one unit. However, I am now on my 3rd unit. The first 2 went bad on me and had to replaced. First wouldn't pick up any satellites at all (open territory) after 3 months of use, and on the second I had the radio go out on me and quit working. I will praise Garmin for quickly replacing the units for me, but still made it frustrating when it was in need in the field. I also hunt in thick forest areas and sometimes cannot get a signal. I'll be interested in seeing the reviews on the 530Hcx after it's been out for awhile."

Nice product,July 28, 2007

"I would tell anyone to buy one of these. It is so nice not to have to buy two different units just to do what this one can do. It is also nice to be able to see where my hunting buddys are. I have only had a couple of problems but they were minor."

Lost & found,November 20, 2006
By Phletch
"I purchased two, one each for my son & I, to complement the Rhino 130 used by my other hunting partner. We use them primarily while archery elk and bear hunting out of state. We typically hunt independently, bugling and stalking our own elk. We reported in silently to keep track of each other. This was particularly helpful to avoid stalking the same bull elk or otherwise interfering with each other. When my partner was successful in shooting an elk, it saved us hours in locating him to assist in tracking. We always mark the location of the truck when we set out and may cover 8 to 10 miles in our hunts. It is reassuring to know that no matter how "lost" we can get, even in heavy fog, we can always be "found" or take the shortest route back to the truck at night."

garmin 130 gps/radio,November 20, 2006
By razorbackerfrom Sterling, Ks
"I already owned a Rhino 110 and liked it. The idea of a directional compass would be most beneficial so I purchased the unit. Used in Colorado elk Hunting. I found all the features easy to use. My friend had the 110 and being able to keep track of him was a big help, especially since he tends to get turned around and lost in the mountains. The unit has more than enough memory for all the functions. I also purchased the ear piece and micro-phone and this was very usefull hunting as i could talk to my friend without any reception noise. From setting waypoints to using the tracks system, the instruction book and ease of use of the rhino 130 is very good. Using the "go to" to return to a waypoint is simple and the directional compass gets you off to an exact start, which is very important to me in the woods, especially in the dark. The only iprovement would be an easier way to access the batteries. The small ring is awkard for large fingers, but not a real set back."

Great product!,November 10, 2006
By nootayfrom harrisonburg, va
"I got this for my father for Christmas last year. It takes some time to get used to it if you have never used a GPS before, but once you understand how everything works, it is amazing! Another person at our hunt camp has the exact same model. Using the radio feature to locate another person on the GPS in very handy. This is well worth the money!"

Best GPS that is made,November 9, 2006
By LAarcheryhunter
"The Garmin Rino 130 has all the features of several peices of equipment that I use to carry. Now instead of a radio, GPS, and compass all I carry is the Rino. In the past I had to check the weather and sun rise before I went hunting and depend on the forcast not changing throuhout the day, but now I can get this information any time of the day or night. The ability to upload detailed contour maps is great for hunting in places you have never been before. I also use the ear bud with mine to be able to listen to my hunting partners and never scare off game. The best feature of this GPS is the send location feature. Me and the hunters I was with helped save someone from a long night with a broken leg in the woods when he contacted us on his Rino and sent us his location.
No hunter should leave home without this compact GPS that has everything you need to get there and back and keep you safe while hunting!"

Greatest Outdoor tool that I own,October 25, 2006
By mcdona90from Great outdoors of Michigan
"I have had this GPS for several years and continues to prove itself to be the best outdoor tool I own. It is loaded with tons of features. I purchased the GRMS FCC license so I could extend the range of the radio/text and it has proven itself to be quite reliable. Its loaded with tons of hunting features. Text messaging feature works great to keep tabs on your buddies without scaring away game. The ability to send your position to each other is outstanding. The weather radio keeps you informed on the forecasts and has helped me be prepared for rough weather in the back country. I clip it to my belt or the shoulder strap on my Pack and rarely loose signal. It has information on sunrise and set witch is great for the hunt as well. I have used a number of gps units and am yet to find one that even comes close to this one. A MUST HAVE TOOL!"
