Trekker Sleeping Bag, November 4, 2009
By WillKS from Newport News, VA

"Sleeping bag is very roomy and provides excellent warmth. I really like the "extra" long model as it allows me to change sleeping positions with ease. Added bonus is the valuables pouch inside the bag; great for security and those of us who get absent minded occassionally, even at deer camp."

"Sleeping bag is very warm and very large. Not recomended if you are hiking in. It is imposible to roll this bag back up. Good bag for cold cabin use where you can leave it unrolled."

Great sleeping bag, November 2, 2009
By HBhunter27 from Huntington Beach, CA

"I'm 6'3" and 235lbs so I wanted a roomy, warm sleeping bag for my hunting trips in Utah and Wyoming. I was very cold last year in my basic +20 bag. I don't like the fit of mummy bags so I looked at several large rectangular bags. I chose the Trekker minus-20 because of the size of the bag and because the price made it easier to take if I made a mistake.

Well, I just got back from Southern Utah and I am very happy with my purchase. It snowed and was in the 20's at night and I slept in boxers, socks and a hot chili shirt and I was almost too warm. I think that I would've been fine with the zero-degree bag and my fleece but I'm not complaining. Don't laugh, but it was great not having hot chili bottoms or flannels pressing on my bladder at night.

The bag is cold at first because of the fabric but warms up very quickly. I bought a 7 foot piece of fleece from a fabric store for $15 which was great to help warm up the bag, cover my feet (or head) and line against the zipper. This won't be an issue if you sleep in long underwear. The length of the bag was great to keep my head covered when I wanted and I didn't have to wear a beenie-hat. I was plenty warm once I got used to the cold and found myself opening the bag a bit to cool it off after a couple of nights.

We had a lot of condensation one night inside the tent (Cabela's Outfitter) and outside of our sleeping bags but the inside of the bag was dry.

The bag is very heavy and quite bulky so its not good for backpacking. I also think it will be way too warm for my local trips. It looks like you could also put two together for couples.

I would recommend this bag to anyone, especially big guys that want a comfortable bag that will keep them warm.

trekker sleeping bag, October 12, 2009
    By 7609 from michigan......

"Love the bag, warm, big, roomy, i'am a tosser/turner and have no problems at all rolling back and forth in this bag.
The one thing that did dissapointe me was the tag on the bag itself says not to store sleeping bag in the roll bag it comes with, says should be hanging or laying flat for storage. Now doing that is going to take up a lot of room. So i ingored that, and rolled it up anyway , which is also no easy task, but can be done and it's in the closet..

Warm and comfortable- great bag for the price., August 11, 2009
    By ZebraMuscle from SE Michigan

"I bought this bag after using a mummy-style bag for a number of years.

I have used it in weather ranging from below freezing to the mid 70s, and it has been outstanding. Actually slept on an unheated cabin floor in 5 degree weather - kept me plenty warm.

Solid construction, and compresses easily into it's stuff-sack. Can't go wrong w/this bag.

"I am 6'5 and 285lbs this bag had a ton of room! It's a bulky bag and when it's rolled up it's still pretty big but the comfort and the warmth are well worth it."

    BIG!!, June 24, 2009
    By Redsolitaire

"I got the X-Large -20 degree model, and it is HUGE!. I am 6' and 215 lbs and I can literally get all of me in the bag (including my head) without bending my knees. I "sleep cold", so during the 50 degree night when I tried out the bag I was comfy, but not hot (but I was in my underwear, so sweats would have made it VERY toasty). Zipper works fine, I like the adjustable top to snug the bag around my neck. The only thing I can't figure out is how to get this big boy back in its stuff sack. The bag "expands" when you unpack it, sort of like you are inflating it. Not a complaint really, but I'm going to just fold and pack it in my large duffel and just give up on the stuff sack. Oh, and it should be obvious, but I think this bag is better for car camping rather than backpacking due to its size and weight."

By jcjoy from Huntington Beach, CA

"I haven't gotten to use it just yet in the outdoors, but I did open up and get inside ... and I love it! Feels so comfortable. I went searching for this brand because my boyfriend has the same one ... so I chose it ... so we can double them up and make one giant bag and it's excellent. He's a pretty decent size guy ... and there is a lot of room for two! Thank you Cabela's for getting it in stock as promised on your site!"

    Big Bag, February 26, 2009
By Anonymous from Los Angeles, CA

"I thought it would be a good idea to field test this before I ventured out into the desert. I slept in the back of my Grand Wagoneer on a chilly night in January. The overnight temp was in the 30s. The bag is rated zero. It is very well made and is finished beautifully. It certainly has enough room expecially for a 5'7'" guy. However, I was slightly chilled during the night. I'm not certain if the rating is overly optomistic or whether I should sleep in more than my underware and tee shirt."

Trekker sleeping bag, February 16, 2009
By Imontheroad from Mexico and Central America

"I bougth the -20 degree bag to have plenty of warmth where ever needed. I spend most of my time in other countries and needed a bag that will hold up, have a good zipper, and keep me warm. So far it has done that.

I travel in my van I think its too big if you were only back packing and there is lot of room to be comfortable.

Got Wet - Mystery Problem, February 12, 2009
    By GBPKRS from Milwaukee, WI

"I got the X-Large -20 bag because I'm 6' and 270 lbs. there was plenty of room and I was originally comfortable when testing, but from day 1 night after night I had a problem I never had in a sleeping bag before. I woke up soaked - shoulders to knees. This was in a Tampa, FL kitchen on vinyl squares floor. Somewhat cool nights in Feb. The bag was on top of a coleman air mattress which had one side plastic & one side velour. Both sides of the air mattress did the same thing with moisture. Finally I decided to buy a blanket and sleep on top of the Trekker bag on top of the air mattress. The strangest thing. I woke up dry, but the sleeping bag was wet in the layer between the air mattress and bag only. This is a mystery that I could not figure out. It has me worried in ever using the bag for camping outside on a cool or cold night. I don't want to be soaked outside in the cold! Based on what I saw, it seems not to be a captured sweat problem. Nobody else in these reviews seems to have had this problem because I read them all."
