Not so much magic,
October 8, 2009
By Backdoorbuck

"This product had no visitors after two weeks. This is a high traffic area and the product was placed 10 to 15 foot off the trail in black moist soil in a wooded area. I would expect a few stops from some deer. Would not buy it again. Sorry Black Magic for the info but that's the results I had."

It really works,
September 9, 2008
By justhunt

"I've used this product successfully for quite a few years. It is very easy to use. The directions are very simple and don't require any tools. Just find an area you would like to use the product at, scrape away the leaves, grass, brush, etc. down to the dirt, and spread the product around. The best time to put it out is right before a rain and then wait 2-4 weeks to see results. They will tear it up! Just be careful about the regs in your area. It's almost like hunting over bait so I stop using it about 6 weeks before the season opener."

good product,

By southernoutdoorman

"we hunt in Mississippi and followed the directions on the bag. at first it doesnt seem like the deer do anyhting with it, but once it rains and absorbs into the ground the deer wear it out. we have pictures from game cameras over the sites. even though its has been months since we put it out the deer are licking and pawing and now it is a six inch deep crater where they have literally devoured the ground. i was sceptical at first but after giving it time the deer are crazy about it. i just went to cabelas and bought 10 bags to put black magic sites all over our land."

It seems to work,
May 29, 2007
By spikeowen
from Central Louisiana
|
"I have put out several bags of Black Magic. It has a great smell and although I have never seen a deer in it; there are always tracks in the hole. They have used the spot until there is a shallow depression about 4 feet in diameter which holds water in rainy season. The deer seem to drink the water there when they can't lick the ground."

The Product Called Black Magic,
April 3, 2007
By Anonymous

"Well, I first saw this stuf and said hmm i wonder if it would work. So i read the back and bought a bag. I put it down in the valley behind my house where I archery hunt. Man withing 2 hours i had 7 does and 1 small spike buck licking it and eating it like there was no tomorrow. So i just watched them until it got dark. I would have been hunting that day but it was a the day before opening morning, so the next day i got up real early went down there with my bow and climbed up the tree with my climbing stand. After about 10 minutes the light was starting to brighten things up. When there was just enough light to see my surroundings, I looked to my right to see 12 DOES AND A WIDE 8 POINTER BEDDED DOWN 10 YARDS FROM WHERE I WAS. I stood up and blew my grunt call but the buck wouldnt respond so i sat back down and watched them leave to go to the other end of the woods where i was hunting. Then after about a half an hour of sitting still and being very quiet i heard a stick crack. Then I saw a deer body walking toward me. All i could see was a broadside deer body. So I blew a doe grunt and it stopped in confusion, of where the sound came from so i grunted again, still no response. So I stood up, drew my bow and took the shot. I waited a good 30 to 45 minutes before i came down and started tracking. There were blood splotches the size of water melons. I found the arrow about 10 feet from where i saw the deer. I picked it up. It was covered in blood. The crimson talon broadhead was ok but the fletching were a little messed up because as it flew it hit a thorn bush before hitting the ground. So i put it in my quiver and kept moving. Then after walking 50 yards past where i shot at it I found it laying down on its side in the weeds. I walked over to sind i had shot a monster buck! HE WAS A 24" WIDE 14 POINTER. Man was I happy that i hadnt shot the 8 pointer. so i field dressed him and dragged him up the hill, and to my back door. I told my mom to close her eyes and come downstairs. When i led her to the back door i said open your eyes. She immediatly screamed: OH MY GOD THATS A BIG BUCK!!!!!!! We then ran him to the taxidermist who was in shock about the size of the rack and the fact that a 14 year old boy shot and killed it with a 70lb bow on the opening morning of the PA archery season. And Then when I showed my dad the pictures he was in shock about the size of the rack too. He was very proud of me and he showed it to his friend who was shocked to see that i had gotten a buck of that size. So Thank you cabelas for selling Black Magic, I dont think i could have gotten my first deer without it."

How to use it,
February 2, 2007
By DickMI
from Lapeer, MI
|
"First mistake people do when they use this product is they use it by itelf or just throw it out there expecting deer to just come to it. My advice is use it with a salt block and to get the deer interested, coat it with molasses or Buck jam so it a treat and has a high attraction rate, or just put corn on it. It's February and I have five different mineral plots going and the're tearing them up. Use different types of mineral blocks and black magic see what works for you. By itself it work fairly well if it's absorbed into the ground, not in powder form for some reason it scares deer and blows away. Use water to make it a hard shell and so it has time to absorb into the ground."

average product,

"I have seen deer come to the product, mainly in the summer. I haven't noticed deer going straight to it, but will use it from time to time. Mostly they walk right past it. I've never seen a deer use it in the winter, they seem not to want or use it. But I feel it does help bring deer in the area during summer months. Overall I recommend it, if you use it early in the season."
