    By ThreeHossTrailHand from Driftwood, TX

"10 days in the outback up real high, 2 men & 3 horses- These Heater Meals did the job!! Space and weight are a premium when packing in and you don't want to pack in junk. THESE MEALS HIT THE SPOT, all the heaters worked perfect, both the Breakfast & Dinners were delicious."

    heater meals, August 21, 2009
    By txlancer

"bought some of the pancake/eggs/bacon heater meals for a 3 day backpack. I took these to surprize my teenage boys and nephews with a "hot" meal for breakfast. The pancakes taste strange, but, the eggs and bacon are fine. The other problem is the weight. I knew this ahead of time but carried them anyway to make it a memorable trip. The units have a bag of saline soultion that you must use or the meals will not heat up. It would be better to have the option of mixing the salt with water that you get from the streams instead of having to carry the saline mixture. But in fairness I knew about the weight issue before I bought them. I am giving only 3 stars for the strange taste of the pancakes and the price"

Not to shabby, August 11, 2009
By hitchie10 from Whitetail Mecca, North Idaho

"These heater meals are easy and taste pretty darn good. BUT... are pretty small. plan on 2 per meal. also i found you might want to leave the meal in its heater pack for 15-20mins instead of the 10-12 suggested. that is if you want a hot meal instead of just warm."

    heater meals, May 26, 2009
    By randyalaskaoutdoorsman from Alaska

"heater meals are great for a day hunt . there are no requirements just bring your self and the meal. these work out great for a day climb for a hike or a sheep hunt. all you need to eat is a place to sit. they do not get piping hot, they get more or less luke warm if cooked per instructions, bring an insulated cooking pouch in your day pack and you can produce a perfect meal wherever you are. I highly recomend these meals to hunters in treestands. for the price they take a load off of cleanup at the camp site. it cant get any easier than this."

NASTY / DISGUSTING - ALL TASTE THE SAME, February 19, 2009
    By devon91 from Reno, NV

"I purchased around 20 of these meals for an elk hunt in ID, a HUGE mistake! These meals tasted all the SAME! they all smelled, and tasted like the "chemical solution" used to heat them. They did not even heat very well in the cold weather. I was sick literally the whole trip because of these meals. I would encourage everyone to just use MRE's or at least try the meals before your trip."

just like heaven!, October 28, 2008
    By huntmanmaniac

"My friends and I went out scouting for pheasants and I had gotten back from cabelas about 1 week before. I saw the heater meals there. Then my brother and I bought 2 of them. I belive they were the blueberry pancakes and bacon and the beef stew. I had about 6 people with me it may be a little small but it is enough to feed 6 kids scouting. They were just to die for. My friends were were telling me GET MORE! I will never go scouting or hunting without those ever again!!!!!!!"

    Heater meals, October 14, 2008
    By stringero1 from PA

"This was my first try at the heater meals. I just returned from 4 days camping in Ontario and wanted to travel lightly. I was happy with the meals, both their yummy-factor and the ease of preparation. No need for a propane stove or plates. Heat''em up and eat 'em up directly from the container. I'll be buying some again."

    By fastest1 from Detroit, MI

"I've had the opportunity to use the heater meals during deer hunting trips and family trips. On the family trip, we rode the train from Detroit, MI to San Antonio, TX. Knowing ahead of time that the train meal prices are expensive ($7.00 for a burger), I packed us some heater meals.
Right out of the old carry-on luggage, sat down in the Viewing Car, heated up the meals and we commenced to eating. Even my teenage daughter said it was good. Before it was time to leave San Antonio, I went back and restocked for the trip back.
Try to charge me $7.00 for a burger, PLEASE! Well, in a couple of weeks, we're headed over to Seattle. Guess what I'll have in my carry-on luggage?

By BDSC from New Albany IN.

"As usual I for got to get food in for X-Mas. Everything was closed. So I got out the "Heater Meals". My Grandchildren said it was the best they ever had @ Grandpa's on X-Mas day. Maybe a start of a new tradition. It could be worse."

    Not A Good Meal, February 1, 2008
    By ohiobigfoot from SE Ohio

"My wife and I have been trying several campfood products. This is one of the worse. The meals are too heavy to pack in. If you can carry these, or use pack animals, take real food and a stove. The fumes from the heating prosess are terable! The portions are VERY SMALL! Taste is not even adiquete. Not a good value."

    US Army, January 11, 2008
By KB87 from currently baghdad, Iraq. Formerly of Wisconsin

"As a member of the United States Army Infantry i have had the oppertunity to eat "Heater Meals." While I don't exactly think they are the best for camping because they do take up a great deal of space...(it comes in a rectangular box which doesnt pack well in a ruck sack). I do think that they are a great way for people in my situation to have a meal in the field that cant bring parishable items with them and they do taste a lot better than an Army MRE. The price is about the same between a box of MREs and a Box of heater meals. But if you are camping for recreation, you need to cook over the fire because its one of those experiences of camping you cant go without. As a former boyscout and a card carrying Eagle Scout I have cooked many of time over the fire and find its the most rewarding. But as i said before when in a pinch the heater meal is very effective."
