"I bought this knife several months ago, and have put it through some very heavy use. It has handled the abuse extremely well; the blade retains a shaving sharp edge through multiple heavy duty uses. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a useful, durable, fairly priced knife. It is very well made and I feel it has far and away out preformed its price.
The sheath on mine functions perfectly. I have had no issues with securing the knife in the sheath or the sheath to my belt or field bag."

"I have used many knives over the years for everything from general camp chores to skinning and quartering big game. I bought the SOG SEAL Pup knife last winter, and just returned from using it to skin and quarter an elk and a buck.
I have to say this is the most impressive knife I have used. It held a very good edge all the way through the elk and didn't need touch-up sharpening during the whole process of skinning and quartering. It was "touch it and cut" sharp through the whole beast.
I touched it up with a field sharpener after the elk, and used it the next day on a buck. Same story. I like the partially serrated blade for getting through tendons and joints, too.
I see why this knife was chosen by the Navy!
I know what I'm getting my hunting buddies for Christmas!"

"In my 50 years of hunting and fishing, I have messed around with many, many knives. I have even hand built a few in my day. These SOG knives, quite simply, are some of the finest cutlery that money can buy. Personally, I LIKE the clip design of the tactical sheath because it can be attached to back packs, fly fishing vests, etc.,. I own the Seal Pup because the other Sog Seal knife has a blade that is much too long for my needs. I find that the steel used in these knives are easy to sharpen but retain a good edge over a reasonable time period. The handles on these knives are nothing fancy but they are very durable. This is a knife for all seasons, plain and simple."

"I just picked this knife up at the Cabella's in Washington. I got it after a couple looks.
The knife is great. It's sharp, slim, good shape and best of all; It's light weight. It is easily my favorite knife yet.
The only problem is, the sheath. The sheath is an absolute joke. It is very loose around the blade and the snapping mechanism is too.
I loved the KABAR Kydex sheath, it is very tight and without the snap on, it takes alot of force to shake the blade free (Which means, normal walking, running, and even jumping won't shake it out when its upside down.) If the snap is around a KABAR sheath? Not coming free at all.
But the SOG Sheath, a couple shakes and it's got the blade coming out and stopping just short of the strap. It wouldn't feasible shake out, however the sheath should be better made.
TLDR: One of the best knives ever, but plan on looking for an alternative sheath (maybe make your own) if you plan on using it in an enviroment that requires heaving moving."

"This basic sheath knife is small and light enough to go with you when a fixed blade is wanted.
The scabbard mount is a bit flimsy and I don't like the slice opening as this knife is razor sharp and anything that comes in contact will be cut. I prefer full blade coverage but the very low weight allows this to be carried as a second blade when out in the woods.
Handling takes a bit to be comfortable b/c you will be afraid to break it b/c of the low weight. Great for backpacking or any other time you need a sharp light knife."

"Sometimes I like to think of myself as a psuedo survivor man. This SOG knife makes it easy. There are only three things you need when camping. Light my fire, SOG Seal Knife, and a Glock 17. The knife perform exceptionally well in a life or death hunting situation. Let me explain. Out here on the caprock we have a variety of wild pigs. Wild pigs can be especially feisty when they are being hunted with dogs. (We don’t "weak sauce" it and use traps like other hunters) Mikelback and I we hunting some little piggies when we came across a clearing a hit the mother load. A sow had three little pigs. Not wanting to hunt this pig we started to retreat back over the little berm. On the other side of the berm was a full grown male charging us. Mikelback has dropped his rifle and started shooting the boar with a Walther 22 pistol. The boar was upset and got even angrier and we danced around the thick brush and trees. Mikelback shoots the boar in the leg and in about three swift motions the battle was over. The knife cut through the stench and hide like a knife through hot butter. The grip was easy to hold given the circumstances. I recommend this knife to any hunter. It also doubles as a letter opener in my home office."

"Athough I have not yet had the opportunity to use this knife for much more that work around the farm, I fully intend to carry this knife backpacking, canyoneering, camping, fishing and hunting.
I started researching and reading about this knife in the early 1990's and knew this was the knife for me. Once I received it from Cabela's in January, 2009, I was not disappointed.

"I own both of these Seal S.O.G.'s and they are simply amazing bush knives. Razor sharp and needle tipped they can cut through anything short of cable. Hack wood for you, and makes an all around great camp knife. Corrosion resistant blade and the Kydex handles have a hard checkered grip design that doesn't slip even when wet. SOG also gives you a great selection of sheaths to choose from for each knife."

"The knife itself has a really good feel to it. It is well balanced, arrived very sharp, and I like the way the handle fits my hand. The sheath is another story. The strap securing the hilt feels flimsy and I'm sure it won't last too long. The mechanism by which the thing is secured to your belt is bulky and feels flimsy. That I don't like. If the knife had a better sheath I'd rate it with 5 stars."
