"The ABS support pole is a piece of junk! It broke on my second use, I had to duck tape three of the four joints and they still broke. Can't believe Cabela's would sell something of this poor quality. I'd return it but shipping would cost more than the product is worth. If they had a zero star rating the support pole would fit there."

"The advantage of this pole, it's adjustable. If you can anchor it securely, it does its job of not letting the water pool in pockets. What it needs is a much bigger and heavier base. The least little slack you have in your cover, if a good wind blows and the cover starts to flap, the pole falls."

"I had pruchased 4 of the Gulf Stream boat cover support poles for my 24 foot boat. They have an adjustable hight from 12" to 54" and are supposedly constructed of durable ABS plastic. All 4 poles broke in less then 3 month. The material is extreamly weak at the joints and when the temperature under the cover begins to get warm they start to bend from the weight of the boat cover and the heat. When this happened the out side temperatures during the day was still in the 70's. Also, during any type of rain with a little wind they would also break at the joints.
The reason I had purchased these poles is because the catalog person I was talking to said that they did a real good job for what they were designed for.
