Keeping gulls and birds (and their unsightly droppings) away from your dock or moored boat is a constant struggle. But
the Prowler Owl will keep birds and other small pests away from your property. Designed to replicate a great horned
owl in a hunting mode, the Prowler Owl's outstretched wings will move in even the slightest breeze to give nuisance
birds and animals the impression of an owl in search of a meal. Easily attaches to a dowel or conduit. Unlike static
decoys, the Prowler Owl remains effective in the same place for long periods of time.

Windsock Decoy,September 1, 2009
By springerboyfrom Baltimore
"Very effective. Scares off seagulls immediately. However, deteriorates in sun and wind after several months. Mine showed slight rips and worn spots after 3-4 months on Chesapeake Bay dock. Plastic arms supporting wings broke at their elbow - I repaired and still works reasonably well. I like it enough to replace it every year."

"Windsock came torn. We fixed with tape but were disappointed with the merchandise. We did not return because it would have been more trouble than it was worth, plus shipping costs."

Prowler Owl Windsock Decoy,June 16, 2009
By NCSCboaterfrom Shelby, NC
"I keep a boat on a lift under a covered dock year round and have been thinking I needed to try an owl decoy to keep large & small birds away & the mess they leave behind. When I saw this windsock version I thought I'd try it instead of the stationary version. Although it was pricey, I ordered it anyway because I was tired of the mess when I arrived at my boat. The product seems to be well made & cleverly designed to "fly", but I doubt it would last very long out in full sun, rain & wind as advertised for garden use. It can be placed on a dowel or suspended from above with fishing line. They need to improve the small extruded plastic nub that you have to tie to to suspend the owl - a loop or grommet would be nice. I think if it were on a dowel it would probably blow over or blow away in strong winds, but suspended it seems to perform very well flying the air currents. A periodic squirt of wasp spray in the hollow neck / head is needed to keep the dirt dobbers out. I am very pleased with this product for my application under a covered dock, because it is not exposed to direct sun & rain, and I think should provide reasonable product life for the expense. Hung from the rafters with 80 lb mono, the owl swoops, spins, bobs, and moves constantly in the slightest breeze. The one time I have been back to the boat 2 weeks after I hung it, the owl was still flying, and the boat was free of bird droppings, so it must be effective. If I were planning to use it on a post instead of suspended, or in a non-covered area, I would purchase a stationary owl decoy instead of this product."

Prowler Owl,May 5, 2009
By kiger95
"Bought two of these Prowlers to keep the woodpeckers from the back porch. You should hear the woodpecker laugh: These guys are hard to get a picture of but he likes to sit near the Owl before starting his work on the house. As a result I am returning the owls for retraining."

Poor Product - Not worth the Money!!!,August 4, 2008
By BerSharfrom Michigan
"The first day the Prowler Owl was placed on our dock (according to the directions), the ducks gathered on the dock and under the benches as usual. Obviously this product did not work to ward off the ducks! The second day the Prowler Owl was on our dock, we had some winds and the Owl flew away never to be seen again. It was a total waste of money!"

The Owl works!!,April 2, 2007
By DanLfrom Florida
"Here in Florida, keeping the birds off the dock and the rats out of the boat are big goals. The owl has done great so far. At first, I was a bit dismayed by the material used for the body (a heavy paper-like material), but so far at least, it seems to be holding up quite well. (I did purchase 2 spare bodies, just in case)"
