"I couldn't find any manual downrigger that was a permanant mount for my boat that had so many features, including a free downrigger rod for under 100 bucks. After using it a 2 seasons I don't think there is a better made downrigger at any price! The Lake Ranger is a winner."

"I have over 700 outings on the same 2 lakerangers I bought 7 years ago. zero failures, and the downrigger rods Walker provided free with the purchase are still working fine and they happen to be my wife's favorite (lucky) rods. "We ordered Cabelas Walker Lakeranger manual downriggers 2 years ago, after having fits with the other brands. They are really the smoothest working manuals we've tried, and (provided they are assembled correctly, which is easily done in a couple minutes) there's really nothing you can do to hurt them. Sure we've had guests who didn't know what they were doing snag bottom, and free spool, but they are easiest to straighten out, and that's what we like. The rod they give away with them is really nice too."

"I purchased the Walker Lake Ranger for fishing in the Columbia. It has performed quite well and I would highly recommend it. The only thing I didn't like about it was the sort arm, I prefer my line a little farther out from the boat. The free Salmon pole that comes with it is really nice also."

"I bought two of these downriggers in the spring of 2008 and have used them three times. I have had to send both of them in for repair. On one the clicker pin fell out and on the other the clutch won't hold the cable on it just free spools when you let go of the handle."
