"This compass has all the features of the more expensive ones, except a sun shade. Well, that's not so important to me. What is important is performance. While this compass may be a little hard to place, so that metal objects don't influence it, once you find the best spot for it, it will work great. The card doesn't jiggle all over the place, allowing you to make accurate readings, instead of watching how far it swings in both directions, then guessing whats in the middle. It also has good visibility from different angles, and the interior light works great. A great value."

"The compass functions properly, however, the biggest problems with Ritchie compasses (yes, I have purchased several different models over the years), is the fact that the led light more often than not, does not work. Their in dash model, I replaced 3 times, and I have purchased two surface models that also had the same problem. and replacing the led light is also cumbersome."

"This compass appears to be well made, but I absolutely could not get it to calibrate in my truck. I followed all directions and mounted it in different locations, but it wouldn't even come close to working accurately."
