better than no seat, but...,
June 12, 2008
By coditribeplm

"My first one last a couple of years. It worked OK, but the angle of the back rest needed regular adjustment. The second one failed almost immediately, with the aluminum frame bent and broken. I am not a heavy guy. Bought a regular boat seat afterwards."

Great chair for a canoe,
June 2, 2008
By tor1
from Colorado
|
"This chair works great for long paddles and is a great backpain reliever in the canoe. It only works good on a flat, hard canoe seat. Also only usefull on the stern seat. I tried it in the bow seat and it's almost impossible to get in and out of the bow seat area."

Great product!,
January 29, 2008
By F18artemis
from Averill Park, NY

"I looked around for a while before purchasing my Sit-Backer canoe seat, and the Cabela's seat looked like it would be the most comfortable and the most sturdy. I've tried sitting in cheaper stadium style seats, and there's just no comparison. If you lean back in many of those, the back bends in half or it pulls on your legs. With this model's metal frame and large clips that secure your seat to your canoe, that doesn't happen. It is a bit pricey, and you can't really put ALL of your weight on it, so I tend to put something behind it (like my Cabela's foam sleeping mat!) and then it's very comfortable. My fiance, who does most of the heavy paddling, was extremely happy to get one after spending one year without any kind of seat, and the six members of my family who regularly go on our annual canoe trip all have one now."

Best seat yet,

By ElkRiverNavy

"The SitBacker overcomes all the deficiencies of other seats I have tried. The adjustments stay put and the sturdy construction provides comfort and reliable performance. It is also light weight and easy to carry on long portages. The best seat yet for long days afloat in a canoe. Eliminates lower back pain!!!!"

Best Seat - Straps Poor,
December 19, 2007
By Anonymous
from Australia
|
"We have used our beloved Sitbackers for years and are sold on the design. But the manufacturer needs to address the construction materials used in the mounting straps. Ours have frayed to the point where they are now secured with cargo straps. So just because we love the seats, we have broken down and are buying new ones for Christmas and will have them reinforced by a canvas shop after receiving them. Still highly reccomended!"

canoeing improves,
August 6, 2007
By MGT877

|
"The seats greatly improved the comfort of canoeing in our 17' Old Town for a 5 hour river float trip. Support to the lower back worked well. Adjustments were easy for different sized people front and back. A very good buy that even looks good for something I have always thought was a bit dorky. I am a convert."

"These were the best things we bought for the canoe. The padded seat really helps. The straps help to really hold the seat tight. The buckles make for easy removal. There is only one strap to adjust the back.I wish the back had more adjustability."

"After spending a week in the Minnesota Boundry Waters. This seat performed excellent. the only problem is, the frame is to wide for the back seat. Constant rubbing on the sides of the canoe wore thru the webbing on the sides. The seat is still functional. Just doesn't look as good. Saved my back side all week. Glad I had it along!"
