"I am in Search and Rescue, and have used the Fox 40 for many years, not only to look for victims and stay in touch with other searchers, but also to let my dog know where I am when she is out of sight.
I still think the Fox is the loudest whistle in a most convenient size. The order I placed was to put the whistles on some of my SAR gear, and to occasionly give to other members."

"This is the best whistle for reaching out to dogs at long distances. The usual commands are a single long, loud blast to stop the dog and bring it to a sitting position looking back at you, ready for the next command. In an emergency, a staccato series of short blasts reaches out farther than any other whistle I have ever used to bring dogs back to the trainer. People close to you, even those hard of hearing, will comment on how loud and shrill the whistle is and how it hurts their ears. If you ever go MOB, (man over board) or become lost in strange terrain, better plan on having one of these on a lanyard around your neck. When bringing a lost hunter back to location as darkness was falling, the only sound that reached farther was a gunshot fired into the air. This whistle's sound reached farther even than the horn on the truck. Two other trucks stopped by to see if they could help."

"Don't be afraid to "overblow", the harder the better.
I actually got this whistle to use as a safety device to stop training scenarios at work. It's almost too loud for use indoors. People even get mad at me, but they STOP.
Seems well made, like one solid piece of plastic."

"I purchased this soley for safety reasons. The whistle is easy to blow and extremely loud. Since it has no "ball" it won't freeze up in cold weather. It is a great attention getter. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. It is a simple investment to aid in the calling for help when needed."

"I purchased two Fox 40 whistles earlier this year for my Father and me to wear while fishing in the high Sierra's. The Fox 40 is the loudest whistle I have ever heard. And, it does not take much breath to get a good enough whistle. I also use it while walking the dog around town in case of loose dogs and their inconsiderate owners. Get their attentions quickly. A great safety device to have anywhere."

"Hunting in cold weather most pea whistles will freeze up and lose there tone. The fox 40 has great tone in all weather from hot to below zero. Durable and light weight with a color option that give you a choise for upland birds to the duck blind as well as the training field.
