Great anchor pulley, bad spring.,
September 8, 2009
By Ken0013

"I have 5 of these pulleys on my different boats (16' custom and 4 different sized zodiacs). As noted, in the other reviews the springs are not very good, but to be honest they work better without them anyway. After you remove the spring, if you have trouble with the guided catch just cinch down a cable tie (trim it) to the spot where the spring was mounted to remove any "side to side play." Other than that small modification, they have all worked perfectly for 15+ years of solid use. Very sturdy and you can't go wrong for the price."

Great just as a pulley,
August 25, 2008
By RHDeziner
from Oregon

"The quality of this Anchor Pulley is excellent, with the exception of the spring locking pieces. Either I couldn't figure it out (most likely), or the spring slipped causing the hold-down piece not to work. It still worked fine as a pulley without the spring working as intended. It looks good on my bow... which is all that counts!"

"The spring that tensions the swiveling rope catch comes off the rope catch when attenpting to pass a rope thru it. Without the spring, the rope catch will not engage the anchor rope. The spring is very poorly designed as it won't stay in place and without the rope catch, the anchor pulley is useless!"

"The system is only partly functional, first of all there is not a clear guideline in how to mount the unit on the boat and second the central hole that is supposed to guide the anchor rope is of no use at all, as a matter of fact it is only damaging the rope."

Anchor Pulley,
March 26, 2008
By Anonymous

"Outstanding product for fishermen who frequently raise and lower anchors and do not want to drop everything to make an adjustment. I fish the weed beds in the spring and summer and like to anchor in order to thoroughly fish the outside edges. This anchor pulley allows me to rasie the anchor to the boat without bringing the anchor into the boat. I can adjust position with my trolling motor and when I get exactly where I want to be, I lower the anchor with one hand without leaving my seat. The self locking mechanism allows me to begin fishing without having to secure the line to a boat cleat.
Two of these anchor pulleys placed on the Bow and Stern would be great to use when wanting to place your boat parrallel to a fishing or hunting spot."

A Good Product, With A Modification,
October 3, 2007
By shortysdad
from Casper, WY

"I purchased this anchor pulley to replace one on my boat that was broken. It was almost identical to the broken part and fit perfectly. The product consists of a metal alloy frame with a plastic pulley. I did not like the fact that the pulley itself was made of plastic, being concerned that the plastic would deteriorate with continued exposure to sun and weather. I replaced the plastic pulley with one made of brass with a bronze sleeve bearing at it's center. The brass pulley works more smoothly than the plastic one and I anticipate many seasons of trouble-free use with this modified part. It works great! Thanks, Cabela's, for carrying this part at a great price - I'd looked all over for a replacement and this was the only one I found."

"I bought two of these, one for the bow and one for the stern oy my Old Towne Kingfisher. The springs broke immediately. I removed the springs and installed cleats to tie off the ropes and actually really like the setup. I tie off both bow and stern from the stern of the boat."
