"These are great for a small boat that you want to move your seat side to side or remove for storage. They are a bit difficult to clamp tight, but I made a wing nut wrench out of a piece of heavy conduit with a notch in the end and a long bolt for a handle. Kind of like a wing nut speed wrench. It was easy to make and the seats take mere minutes to install and uninstall. It sure beats sitting on a hard bench and with the seats mounted on them, it brings your backside higher off the floor of the boat so your knees and back survive a long day of fishing."

"Ordered 2 of these for use with Cabela's high-back boat seats. The seats were great. These clamps were another story: It was very difficult to tighten the four wing-nuts between the metal tank-type seat of the rental boat and the bottom of the high-back seats because the wings hit on the metal seat and would not turn far enough to get a really snug fit. As a result, the seat was always loose enough to slip and tip. When I tried to tighten further, I tore up the ends of my fingers (there's only about an inch or so of space to reach into) AND then the wing-nut split!!! Without functional clamps, the seats were usless and I had to send everything back.
I must add that Cabela's service before and after this experience was outstanding."

"This product does exactly what it needs to do - the ability to have swivel seats on a jon boat without permanant mounting. I am sure there are better swivel clamps out there, but these were the cheapest I could find, and are made pretty sturdy. I will agree with the other reviews that it is very difficult to tighten the wing nuts to hold the seats in place, and I plan on using a PVC pipe with a slot cut into it, but have not gotten it yet. I have used these once so far, but you have to be careful and not lean back because they clamps may come loose. Overall a good product - but be aware of the difficulty to tighten the clamps.
Oh - and Cabela's shipping is SUPER FAST. I used standard shipping and they arrived in less than two days."

Boat Seat Swivel Clamp - manufaturing problems?,

"I ordered the "boat seat swivel clamp" and a new seat for my boat. The seat was great. The boat seat swivel clamp I received with it was not. It fact it would not swivel at all. It appaered have been maufactured by using a set of dies to press two pieces of metal together. When pressed it was much too tight. I returned it for a replacement and requested that the swivel be tested before shipping. Apparently it was not tested. The second one I received swiveled hard and made a horible loud squeaking sound that would have scared off fish in the next county. Also, the rubber coating on the clamp was torn. I again asked for a replacement. The third on I received also swiveled hard, but not as hard as the first one and it did not squeak. I am going to try and use it.
The customer service people at Cabelas were great through all of this. Their dedication to me, the consumer, and the desire to make it right was super."

"The swivel did not work. It was virtually impossible to turn it. I kept the clamp and replaced the swivel with a ball bearing model that works very smoothly."

"I MOUNTED THE 2 ITEMS ON MY INFLATABLE PONTOON BOAT. THERE WAS TO MUCH GIVE IN THE CLOTH SEAT PROVIDED. WITH THE NEW SEAT I CAN APPLY AS MUCH POWER TO THE OARS WITHOUT LOSING POWER THROUGH THE SEAT. GREAT PRODUCT. GREAT COMBINATION."

"everyone wrote the same thing on this seat clamp and they are right. the wing nuts cant be tightened on the seat.
what dummy made this thing? its usable because its the only thing of its type on the market.
but, it has to be modified so you best know some metal and woodworking. i had to cut a 1 inch board to fit under the seat to raise it up so the wing nuts will turn. then the bolts are just way too long and would rake your legs off if you hit them so i had to use a hacksaw to saw them off the right length so they would fit under the seat. i think the company could modify this thing so that it was more univeral and easy to use out of the box. Also after just one day on the lake the rubber that is on the metal bars that hold onto the boat seat had been rubbed off and it was metal to metal. ...but again, i would recommend it but only because its the best thing i could find and kinda inexpensive but needs about three improvements."

"This is the second clamp I have purchased from Cabela's and it has worked out perfectly on my smaller boat .
