"The Dutch Oven lid stand works great. It's a bit beefy... but that's OK... the Dutch Ovens aren't light weight either."

Smart Stand,
February 20, 2008
By Lee5216
from Raleigh, NC
|
"This is sold as a lid stand to hold your Dutch oven lid when its hot....but it can do more. I use it to act as a portable grill/cook stand to cook on. Place it over hot coals or burning firewood coals - and put a Dutch oven, a skillet, or a frying pan on top - bang! you're ready to roll. Small/compact, you could use it on picnics, hikes, backpacking, etc. Good Luck!"

Is the Lodge Dutch Oven Lid Stand Really Worth It?,
January 8, 2008
By TheBackyardBBQingMan
from Washington, DC Suburbs
|
"Well, in my opinion, it is. The Lodge Dutch Oven Lid Stand worked for me precisely as advertised. I've used it several times while cooking outdoors with my Lodge Dutch Oven and it's very handy for standing the lid, spoons, and other utensils off the ground and clean. It was easy to use (it's a stand), was appropriately sturdy and easy to clean. I think it's a nice accessory to have. I haven't used it yet as platform to hold the lid inverted over coals to cook breakfast, but I will soon. I highly recommend this accessory."

Essential Tool,

"The lid stand is invaluable to all Dutch Oven cooks. Keeps the lid clean, and especially handy to flip the lid over for frying. Keep the joint well-greased, though, to avoid shearing the rivet when opening and closing."

"This is really nice to have, so much easier and cleaner to cook and check the grub from time to time. This is the number 2 item you should have when you get a dutch oven. I have placed this lid stand into the middle of my hot coals, and turned the dutch oven lid upside down placing it on top of the stand. Now, I have a really cool iron skillet to cook steaks, eggs, bacon, etc. on, without having to haul another iron skillet around."

The Lid Saver give us peace of mind,
November 22, 2006
By MariLyn3
from Centerville, Utah
|
"My husband and I took a Dutch Oven Cooking Class this past summer at our local park. The first few weeks, we had to be careful of where we could put our lid when we took it off the Dutch oven. We noticed several other couples with lid savers and asked where they had purchased them. When they told us they had bought them on-line at Cabelas, I borrowed a friend's catalog at work and ordered the lid saver and asked for my own catalog as well.
After the lid saver arrived within the week, we had it for the next class and were able to place our lid on the saver, without worrying about getting dirt or ashes on our lid and transferring it into our food."
