great for taking kids along,October 29, 2009
By MNfamilyfrom Northern MN
"I got this even after reading the reviews about it being difficult to set up, and as such I was extrememly careful. I've had no problems with it and it's a GREAT spot to put the potty chair for our 2 year old when out camping. I gave it four stars because I would like a little better zipper on it, all that does is make me be more careful when I set it up not to make it too tight. It won't stop me from getting one for the other side.
The first time I set it up it took about 5 minutes and now I can have whole tent up with the vestibule on one side in under 10 min. (about 20 if alone)
Also this vestibule is quiet in the wind which was a make or break point for me."

Cabela's WestWind Vestibule,August 10, 2009
By Seniorcamperfrom South eastern Pennsylvania
"Too Low, no head room. The tent itself has a nice high entry, good for seniors. The vestibule for it is very inconvenient. Too much bending. I took it off and will return it."

Cabelas Westwind Vestibule 8 person tent,May 5, 2009
By UPTentingFishermanfrom Michigan
"I have had My Westwind 8 person over a year now. I love this tent!! Had purchased one vestibule and had to get the other. This tent/vestibule combo has weathered many a UP Michigan storm and stys bone dry. Set up can be a little complicated but has gotten easier and I would not shy away from using this. It is nice to have a dry area to step in to before opening the tent in storms. Recommended to any serious tent camper. The only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars is because of the somewhat confusing and difficult set-up..."

Easy the second time around,March 14, 2009
By mwe2121from Richland, Wa
"Just got my westwind tent and two vestibules today. I set the tent up today and the two vestibules. As other have said the poles can be a bit of a pain to get bent properely but it certinaly can be done. The first one took me about 20min to setup and attached to the tent. The second one took me about 5mins. Once setup they should provide good protection for your gear and they seem to be very stable. The zipper was a little tough to zip back up but once I had it stacked it properly it was a breeze to do. The material seems thick and very durable. The only reason I gave it a 4 star raiting is because of the extra effort needed to insert both poles."

vestibule,September 2, 2008
By gsdmichellefrom Alameda, CA
"while we like the idea of the vestibule (and are very happy with our Westwind tent) we've had problems with the poles. we're acutally on our second vestibule and both are broken. the first one we used a couple of times and then the short pole failed; they are very hard to get into the flaps and bend. we then bought another one and on the first use, it broke again and this time punctured a hole in the fabric.
we would like this alot if the poles were just a bit shorter in length and not such a struggle to get in and bend."

Great for space but hard to set up,June 30, 2008
By Jnortonfrom Marlboro, Ma
"I was wary buying this vestibule because I read all of the reviews and they were not that great. For the positive part the vestibule was great for extra space and I was able to store all my clothes and other goods inside it. The bad part is it doesn't have a floor but I put a tarp under it and almost no water from the rain all weekend leaked underneath it. The only other problem part like everyone else has said was fitting the long pole into it's position, it took about ten minutes of me and my girlfriend trying as hard as we could before we got it into position and I'm pretty sure I heard the pole starting to crack and snap a little bit before it got into place. If Cabelas could make the pole just a bit shorter than this would be a piece of cake to set up."

Westwind Vestibule,May 30, 2008
By lerectorfrom Ann Arbor, Mi
"I found the WestWind Vestibule to be not worthy of the "Cabelas" name. I was able to successfully put it up, but there was way to much stress on the poles. After only 12 hours, the outside pole snapped in half tearing a large hole in the fabric. I would definitely think twice before buying it."

Be Patient, it's supposed to fit tight!,April 18, 2008
By acdcrcfrom Frisco TX.
"I bought the Westwind 6, and 1 Vestibule for my family of 3. Very nice! I don't like to read instructions, and didn't use them very much to set the tent or the Vestibule up for the first time. The Westwind and Vestibule are supposed to fit "TIGHT"... That's what makes them so wind resistant. On the Vestibule, the little pockets where the ends of the poles go, I truely beleive they built the little pockets so you could put a pair of pliers on it to pull the pocket over the pole ends (it worked for me). Yes, it did fit tight, but it's supposed to. It doesn't just "SNAP TOGETHER, BE PATIENT", it really works! We haven't camped in it yet, but my first time setting it up, it really wasn't that hard. There's not that much to the Vestibule for it to be complicated. You really don't need any instructions. There are 2 poles, the long pole won't go where the short pole goes, so that's a no brainer! After we start camping, I may spend the $$ and get a second one. I can only imagine that a second one would be even better... Happy Campen..."

Westwind vestibule,March 17, 2008
By Campingalotfrom Southern California
"This is SO difficult to set up! I exchanged the first one hoping the 2nd would be easier but it was not. The small pole just doesn't want to fit into the pocket..snapped it on the first try. Definitely takes 2 people to bend it far enough to fit into the pocket..way too much work..returned both it and the tent for an easier model by Cabela's"

Don't get the vestibule,January 18, 2008
By FSUNOLEfrom North Florida
"Listen to most of the other commenters, and don't get the vestibule. I went ahead and ordered one, knowing that other commenters had said not to, thinking that it might be a bother, but would still be worth it, but I was wrong. The instructions are useless, and the poles don't even fit. They need to be cut down by at least an inch. I never got it put up, because I broke one of the poles trying to squeeze it into place. The tent worked great, but not the vestibule."

Extra Room Nice,August 6, 2007
By dsstamperfrom Whiteland, IN
"The extra room this vestibule provides is nice. We actually have two (one for each door). We use one for our camping toilet (so it's the 'restroom') and the other for our luggage. It's a great place to take off dirty shoes before entering your tent. The only problem I have with them is that the zipper gets stuck nearly every time we use it. It's never ripped, but can be annoying nonetheless. Just zip and unzip VERY slowly. The other thing that's a bit inconvenient is the height of the vestibule. I doubt there's anything that could be done about it due to the engineering/style of the tent, but it's quite a bit shorter than I imagined it would be. Definitely can't stand in it (even the kids have to duck). Other than those two things, we've found it to be a very practical addition to our tent and family of five."

Love the tent & enjoy the vestibule , but......,July 16, 2007
By FrednWilmafrom Central Oregon
"Love the tent & enjoy the vestibule , once its up but...... It didn't come with any instructions, so putting it up the first time was a challenge. Even now that it's been up a few times we still find it cumbersome to put up & take down. The tent goes up much faster than the vestibule. On th bright side, it does create a very weathertight unit."

westwind 6man vestibule,May 17, 2007
By kidkampersfrom Mons, Belgium
"The directions leave something to be desired, but with a little common sense and some practice, it's pretty easy to attach and set up. The vestibule is smaller than I hoped it would be. It does provide a good place to take off shoes, and if you use a cooler for a bench- bonus! Overall, it did provide very good weather protection- kept driving rain out of the tent when coming and going."

Cabela's WestWind? Vestibule,November 22, 2006
By gene05from Woodland Park, Colorado
"I 'road tested' the Cabela's Westwind 4 man tent near Fairplay, Co in the early summer. After that, I was satisfied it would work for a late summer Yellowstone kayak trip. I wanted the extra protection of a vestibule in case of rain. We never got the rain but did get a considerable amount of wind. The tent and vestibule worked great and were very stable in the wind. we used the vestibule to store dirty boots and hang wet clothes. It also blocked the wind from the tent door quite nicely. The directions for setup of the vestibule could be a bit clearer but after a couple of times they are sufficient. The Cabela's Westwind Vestibule is a great addition to the tent. It provides extra space to leave dirty gear and hang wet clothes. It also provides a great barrier for inclemment weather. I'm very pleased with the vestibule."
