Digital Compass,September 30, 2009
By Aggjonfrom Michigan
"The functions are somewhat confusing. It works OK but was a hassle to set. I could not get it to function at all when I first tried it. I called the manufaturers customer service, who where helpful. By the product ID they could tell that my unit had sat on a shelf or in a warehouse for 3 years and that the batteries where dead. It required me replacing batteries at a cost of $10 before I could even use it."

High Gear Digital Compass,May 16, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Sharpsburg Md
"Don't waste your money on this product.
Even after calibrating it several times, It produced wildly different readings when pointing in the same direction while standing in the middle of an open field with no cell phone or any other electronics near. I wouldn't rely on this product to tell me anything.
I could do a better job of guessing the direction I was heading."

"I have had my Trail Drop compass for a year now. No problems except changing the batteries. Need very small tools and the gasket is hard to get back in place. I would buy again"

Not user friendly,October 9, 2007
By sdoiftugfrom Colorado
"It was light to carry, and generally did what it was supposed to do, but I didn't like it because it was too hard to program and remember how to use the buttons, the alarm was so faint it didn't wake me up after a day's walking, and the compass was only roughly accurate. You need jewelers tools to replace the battery, and the waterproof gasket is nearly impossible to get back in its track once the unit is opened. I wound up throwing it away."

Digital Compass,April 3, 2007
By Dougafrom Jefferson City, Missouri
"The compass works great, but it does not give you a constant reading like a regular compass. You have to keep pushing the button to get a reading."

Great gear at a great price.,December 22, 2006
By rdavis0520from CT
"I've had my digital compass for 3 years now. It is super light, very small, totally reliable, and you cant beat the price. The face is still perfectly clear and readable. Its logged a good number of trail miles and, since its so compact, I carry it to work everyday in my pocket. Its even been to sea on submarines; though there I only use the chronometer and thermometer....I leave the navigation to the Quartermasters! The narrow end finally cracked and the ringed strap became detached, but after 3 years and all I've demanded from it I have no regrets. High Gear's digital compass is a great deal for the frugal trailfarers among us."
