Pricey,

"Real pricey, I havent shot them yet but I hope you get what you pay for. The do come packaged real well, each bullet surrounded with foam. They are almost twice the price of some other bullets so I hope they perform well."

Barnes .338 225gr MRX,
October 11, 2009
By mikejk
from NC

"Have a 338 RUM with a shilen select match barrel and have tried a number of different bullets. The 225 MRX just flat out shoot anything else I've tried. With the MRX I consistently get .25 to .5 MOA groups. Tried the X and TSX and they don't shoot as well (around MOA). Swift A frames also do well but not as well as the Barnes. Haven't had a chance to use the rifle on large game yet, but hopefully soon."

barnes mrx,
October 3, 2009
By devin101

"The barnes mrx sounds like a good idea however the tips are poor quality when realoading and you want acuracy. and you like to try diffrent measurements well the tips get messed up really easy even out of the box tips are messed up. so you cant measure a bullet and know how long it is because the tip. however i brought to the range and was shooting a 3006 at 3046 average speed and grouped just over an inch at 100 yards witha 150 grain mrx so i was impressed. Barnes please fix the tips"

Barnes MRX Bullets,

By BFENNIX

"I load these in two calibers. I have shot a Bull Elk last season, and a Black Bear with them, with great results. Both were one shot kills, with big wound channels. The bullets did what Barnes said they would do. Highly recomended."

Barnes MRX,

"I recently used the Barnes MRX bullets on a boar hunt in California. I used the 130 gr. MRX in my .270. I took a 175 lb boar at 120 yards with one shot. The bullet performed beyond my expectations. Normal entry size hole with a 2" dianeter exit hole. Excellent expansion!"

Broken Tips,
December 20, 2007
By luciouslarry
from Litchfield, MN
|
"My package of (20) had one broken tip. Two other tips broke off while feeding from my clip into the chamber. Bullets with the poly tips in tact shoot well and perform flawlessly on impact. The Barnes TSX shoots nearly as well in my guns and the solid copper tip is much more hassle free - no broken poly tips from handling. I'm changing back to the TSX for good."

Barnes MRX,
June 27, 2007
By Monte3006
from Fresno, CA

"So far I am impressed by the Barnes MRX bullet. I went from 150 grain Nosler to 150 grain MRX and my group went from just over a half ince to just under a half ince I never thought I would improve my group on a hunting rifle. I got drawn for Elk this year and a special deer hunt at Fort Hunter Liggett and look forward to putting these bullets to the test. Thanks Cabelas for the best price anywhere on these bullets. If you can leave them on sell for us guys who are on a tight buget. I was forced to change bullets due to the no lead rule now being imposed at Fort Hunter Liggett and you folks made that change alot easier by saving me close to $10 a box."

Barnes MRX Bullets,
May 23, 2007
By ThBear
from Susanville, CA
|
"I found the Branes MRX Bullets to be everything they are billed to be. They are highly accurate, produce slightly lower pressures than other bullets, and are easily reloaded. I bought some .30 Caliber MRX's for a friend for his birthday. The one draw back is the price being paid for 20 bullets per box. The price is a little steep if you are hoping to work up several loads from several different powders for testing. The Barnes loading data, however, does provide accurate loads with little experimentation."

"Loads group very well with my H&S Precision 308. Most groups are around 1/2 inch @100 yds. Loads were individually placd in box and separate. One did have a damaged tip but fired and grouped with others. Highly recommended."

Disappointing Quality for a Premium Bullet,
April 12, 2007
By JimPA
from PA
|
"I have been a long term user of Barnes Bullets in my reloading and hunting activities. I recently decided to try Barnes new MRX bullets......a higher end premium bullet. When I received the box of 20 bullets, I was very disappointed . Unlike other higher end premium bullets which use compartmentalized packaging to keep the bullets separate, the Barnes MRX bullets are simply placed loose in a box between 2 layers of foam. Upon opening the box, I found one Delrin tip completely broke off 1 bullet and a few more damaged. I can not afford a poor quality bullet in one of my Fall hunting trips. You are uncertain of the exetent of damage to any of the bullets in the box. Don't buy until packaging is significantly improved."
