Better than the factory sights.,May 7, 2009
By 10coyotesdownfrom Lima OH
"The rear sight is robust and visually more rugged that the flimsy factory sight on the ranch rifle. I wouldn't try to fit the front sight again- it's probably easier to take it to a gunsmith and pay $25.00 to have the front sight installed.
Rear sight adjustments are easy. Once you're zeroed in I would suggest backing out the windage screws one at a time and using some loc-tite. Accuracy does not live up to the factory or ad-man hype. I had a trigger job done on my ranch rifle a couple of years ago and from a sand-bagged bench all I could get was a 4-5 in. spread at 100 yd (Federal .223 factory loads.) Ruger factory sights were 8+ inches at 100 yards.
My ranch rifle's receiver was factory milled for Ruger scope mounts. Forget the scope with the XS rear sight- it's too high for the standard height Ruger scope rings. You'll need rings at least 1/8 -1/4 in taller. My ranch rifle is for home defense and a recent influx of coyotes around the farm. The XS sight is good enough and fast enough for those two jobs. The ranch rifle was never meant to be a sniper rifle. But it would be nice to see what the groups would be with a good 2.5-8 scope."

It's OK BUT,August 27, 2007
By Mini14shooterfrom Jasper,TX
"I found the sight to be ok but when I went to install it I found the front sight was turned around backward in the dovetail not to big a problem I had a gun smith turn it around because I did not have a press and wasn't about to beat it out add twenty bucks to my cost. And take two stars off my raiting,Still havent shot the gun but I like the clear sight picture.I would buy another."
