Bell and Carlson replacement stock - camo,September 5, 2009

"This stock is a good stock, but it needs a lot of work. First, the camo is well done. I bought this to replace the original on my Savage 110, 270. The first thing I noticed was the action screws did not line up properly - about 1/16 off. Had to file to fit. The inside of the stock was molded and lots of sprew was around - more filing to make it smooth. I free-floated the barrel, which you don't have to do - more filing. The fit on the trigger end needed some more filing here and there to get the trigger to work. The screw depth was off (they warned you about this) more filing on the screws. The butt part of the stock has a bulbous curvature that hurts my cheek bone, so I put in a temp cheek pad. In short this was a lot of work - not a drop in, but the stock looks good, feels good, and I think the shooting was improved, but the recoil didn't get reduced by much, as they hinted it would."

"This is the second B&C replacement stock I have purchased to fit a Browning A-Bolt 280. The first was nearly 20 years ago. I had to do a lot of modfieing to make it fit right. I purchased a new stock to see if B&C had made any improvements. The answer is YES. The new stock allowed my rifle to drop right in the new stock with just very light sanding per their instructions. The new sock looks great and fells great. I am really pleased that I decieded to buy a newer stock. It was worth the effort."

"The stock looked great. The problem is that it doesn't fit the gun that it is supposed to. The friend that installed it had to spend hours whittling inside the cavety to make it fit the action."
