"Fit is far from drop in, rifle made in late 70's stock obviously not pre-64, not close to fiiting without altering. Altering is not hard but takes a while. Mostly at upper tang and front ring. With Camo could ruin finish, finish had bubbles in it."

"Although the stock was not a complete drop-in fit, it did allow for filing just enough off of the inside of the forearm and front of the buttstock to create a better than original fit. If you are not wanting to invest any time or effort, (which may not even be necessary, but patience is should fitting be required) I would not recommend this stock. My 94 is a post-64 top eject model and I am thrilled with the results. I even added my own swivel studs to the stock and barrel and am quite pleased. I bought the Win. 94 model stock on sale equivalent to the price of the black ram-line. Realtree HD is much more appealing, and will surely last more than a couple lifetimes of rough handling. The rifle shoots just as well before installation as well and the weight and balance is a little different than the wood, but is a trade-off I am willing to work with since the ram-line is far beyond the original wood in toughness."

"even though im a toolmaker it took me 2 hr's to fit. not worth the time buy a bullet holder that goes over the stock and worry about the fore piece later"
"The rifle stock came quickly, but was disappointed not to be able to use it until I go and have a bolt threaded and cut to fit the gun. I think that it should have been made clear that I would need to purchase additional hardware, or better yet have a screw included"

"The Hardwoods stock is cool looking, but definitely not made for the rifle it claimed to fit on.. I have a Remington model 742 and the front peice of the stock was too small... The rear part fit fine. NOTE: I made mine fit with a roto tool and sanded it down SUUUPER thin, and the inner mechanism still sticks a little. So in all, I made it work, but when they say that the stock for the 740 and 7400 will fit the 742, dont take your chance... Look for a replacement wood stock.. Cabellas is a great store, so im sure if you call their help line, they can give you some options ... TEACH A KID TO HUNT..."

"what a product no fitting just take off the old stock and follow the easy instructions and your done I didnt even have to change any of my scope settings the rifle was still as accurate"
