Does not fit pre-1964 Winchester M-70,October 29, 2008

"This product did not say what years of the Winchester M-70 it fit when I bought it. Based on a Bell & Carlson stock also sold by Cabelas at the time, I figured out there was split in the stock designs in 1964. This stock would require a lot of modifications to fit the pre-1964 M-70. I did not realize my weapon was so old until I looked up the serial number. Cabelas was very quick about a refund, minus shipping back. Other than the thing did not fit, it was lightweight with a nice enough recoil pad for me."

"I had my early WWII German mod.98 rebarreled with a 30.06 and Ramline stock carefully fitted, combined to make the most accurate long range target and hunting rifle I have shot or own. 3 inch group @ 350 yrds. If your not very handy or don't know somebody who is "maybe this stock is not for you" I had to work for the nice fit but it was all worth it. I love that gun!!!!"

"I purchased this stock for my Remington Model 721, which Remington produced before the Model 700. I received the run-around by numerous companies telling me that I needed to purchase an additional 75 dollar trigger assembly in order to fit my gun with a synthetic stock. I purchased this stock and with some careful sanding of the stock for the perfect fit and a couple hours of work it fits beautifully. It is rugged, durable, and I lost no accuracy on my .270."

"This is defiantly not a out of the box drop in and ready to use stock, I found a least two areas that will require quite a bite of grinding, shaving, or filing to not only make the rifle stock fit the action but to also allow it to work. The area where the safety is will not allow safety or bolt extractor to work and will need modifications, also the magazine plate on the bottom is out of line and will also require modification. Hopefully once this is corrected there will be no other issues however these two must first be fixed before proper instillation can be accomplished."

"This stock installed easily. two screws and 5 minutes. It may not be the most exotic of synthetics, but it shoots good, absorbs recoil. Made a rifle that had a beat up wood stock look a lot better. Zero has not changed and does not change with the changes in our weather from hot to cold or dry to drenched. A good value."

"The Buttstock Fit to the receiver was not perfect but was close enough, when you consider the price you cannot expect a factory perfect fit.
The difference in weight from the Factory Wood Stock was very noticable. I put a LimbSaver Slip on Recoil Pad on the Synthetic Buttstock and it blended in perfectly, it also adds about an inch to the pull.
My 94 has the case colored/hardened receiver with the black stock gives it a tactical look."
