"LOVE THE HOLDER PURCHASED THE LONG ACTION . IT ONLY WOULD FIT 16 ROUNDS OF MY 300 RUM THAT I PURCHASED IT FOR . THE INSERT CARTRIDGE HOLDER IT CAME WITH DID NOT FIT MY 300 RUM SO I HAD TO CUT DOWN THE ORIGNAL CARTRIDGE HOLDER FROM THE BOX TO FIT AND IT SEEMS TO WORK ."

"AS SOON AS I RECIEVED THE FINE LEATHER PRODUCT, I PLACED SEVERAL 30-06 ROUNDS IN THE HOLDER AND FOUND THAT THEY MOVED AROUND A LOT AND MADE LOUD, UNWANTED NOISE. I REPLACED THE PLASTIC PART WITH THAT OF A FACTORY BOX OF BULLETS. IT FIT PERFECTLY WITHOUT ANY ALTERATIONS OF ANY KIND, THE LEATHER STRETCHED SO THAT MY INSERT SLID IN WITH MODERATE PRESSURE. THIS IS A FINELY CRAFTED ITEM, WILL FIT ON ANY BELT THAT I OWN, AND I'M THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A SECOND ONE FOR LONG RANGE DRIVES, DON'T WANT BOXES OF AMMO BOUNCING AROUND IN MY POCKET OR BULLETS HELD IN ELASTIC THAT STRETCHES AND FAILS TO HOLD OR HOLDS SO TIGHT THAT YOU CANNOT GET THE BULLETS OUT WITHOUT A LOT OF ENERGY BEING WAISTED-NOT TO MENTION DOING IT WITH COLD HANDS. EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY, I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH IT. KUDOS TO THE INVENTOR AND MANUFACTURER."

Rattle trap for cartridges,January 17, 2009

"I tried to use this in the field but the plastic insert was not a tight enough fit to keep my 270 reloads from rattling around, but tight and deep enough that getting the loads out of the carrier was a hassle. Too slow, cumbersome and much too noisy for field use. I will try the solution posed by one of the other reviewers and remove the factory plastic and replace with the ammo box inserts that actually fit the cartridges yet expose enough of the brass to make quick and efficient extraction possible."

"This item has bvery good quality leather and I anticipate many years of use. Very good bargain. I have the long and short action versions and the larger variety is good for .300 and over and the smaller version is suitable for .30 caliber type rounds. (my 30-06 and .308 fit perfectly). I have also removed the insert that comes with it and modified a cartridge carrier from a box of .450 Marlin rounds. I can carry 16 rounds of .450 Marlin rounds in the small short action version in my modified carrier. The larger version is too big for the .450. I recommend this product."

Excellent ammo case from my view,July 23, 2008

"This little cartridge holder is a real gem of leatherwork. The leather is beautiful, and workmanship excellent. Lets be honest: that is what you're investing in; a quality leather ammunition pouch.
I purchased the short cartridge version of this pouch, and use it to hold .45 Colt (or "Long Colt" if you will) for my Schofield revolver. With exception of two of the slots being a bit of a tight fit due to the natural curve of the plastic to fit the case, this plastic piece works perfectly for holding my rounds. However, smaller calibers would surely rattle.
As far as I can tell, there's no issue there. This plastic part is a discardable item; I would prefer to customize the case for my purposes if the rounds didn't fit tight enough.
My only note that might cause some hesitation is the width of the belt loop. This box will fit fine on your normal waist belts, but if you have a 2" pistol or web belt.
I would recommend this product if you're looking for a quality leather ammo case."

"I had intentionally purchased the leather cartridge box for my .45-70 bullets. The plastic holders that come with the leather cases do not allow for a proper fit. I have had to utilize the styrofoam inserts from other boxes to make a proper fit. I may be in a smaller group of hunters who use this type of cartdirge and finding carrying cases is harder to locate. Any place in your store that you sell leather belts for the above mentioned cases. I like the look of authentic leather belts."

Long Action Plastic Box Too Snug,October 18, 2007

"Even though this box is built very well and the leather is beautiful, the plastic cartridge holder slots are too small for the cartridges I plan on carrying (Hornady Leverevolution .45-70). What I did though was remove the plastic cartridge holder and I used the plastic holder that came with the ammo. I had to alter that plastic holder by cutting one end of it to fit into the leather box. The only problem now is the rounds jiggle around in the box which could pose a problem when I am stalking black bear. It also went from holding 20 rounds to 18, which is no big deal. I would still recommend this product to anyone looking for a fine way of carrying extra ammo."

"This produst is excellent. the elather is beautiful, The shape will be maintained and the catridges fit perfectly nose down but very tight bottom down. Much quieter then plastic and much better looking."
