not perfect, but it works,
November 14, 2009
By swtxsportsman

"I used the pre-fit pad for my wooden stock Win. Model 70 30-06. It hangs over the edge of the stock by about one millimeter all the way around. However, it's close enough that you can't tell unless you examine in closely. Also, the screw holes don't line up, but wood putty fixed that. Altogether, the product fits decently and performs well."

Pachmyr Decelerator Pad,
October 26, 2009
By FeatherweightFan
|
"Poor fit. This was supposed to fit within .050 of an inch. It didn't. Screw holes were no where close to where they should have been, and there was no way to drill new ones in the stock, since the new bottom hole would have had to been right on top of the old one. I would not recommend this product to anyone."

870 Express Wood Stock,
October 13, 2009
By YellowLab303
from Tigard, OR
|
"As this is really the ONLY pre-fit pad for the 870 Express Wood Stock, we owners don't have a lot of options. The fit is not perfect but is probably close enough - the gun isn't going to win any beauty pagents with this pad hanging off the back. The pad itself is nice and squishy. I've had good experiences with Pachmayr pads before so I am sure it will do its job."

Remington 700 ADL Curved stock,
September 7, 2009
By Borqus

"This recoil pad fit perfect and the installation was extremely easy. I searched all over for a recoil pad that fit my particular rifle. My rife was unique in that is is an older Model 700 that had a steel butt plate with a curved stock. I highly recommend this product."

Not pre-fit,

By xpilot

"Purchased for use on a Winchester 94 AE, wood stock. Although the screw holes lined up, the pad was short approx 1/2 inch at the top and overhung the toe of the stock by slightly more than 1/2 inch. I did not expect a perfect fit but "pre-fit" should mean just that. Jim"

Prefit? - NOT!,
July 14, 2009
By Sandy3400
from Louisiana

"I bought the prefit Decelerator for a Ruger MkII wood stock. It wasn't even close to a correct fit. The pad was about 1/8" larger than the rifle stock, which I could have lived with by spreading it evenly. However the screw holes in the recoil pad were not within 1/4" of the screw holes on the rifle stock. I did not want to get into drilling new holes in the stock, etc. so I will just return this recoil pad and live with the Ruger factory pad. I can understand the oversizing of the pad, as there is probably some variation from rifle to rifle, but it seems like the screw holes would be standardized and easily matched. The two stars are because the pad does feel like it would significantly reduce recoil. However the grind to fit pad might be a better option."

Ruger M77 Mark ll Synthetic,
May 15, 2009
By Anonymous
|
"Used the original Ruger factory screws to install the plastic spacer to the Ruger's synthetic stock instead of those supplied with the recoil pad, only because they seemed to align things a little better. The threaded screws intended to secure the recoil pad to the plastic spacer were too short, so I got some a bit longer and then discovered I first needed to drill a pilot hole into my Ruger's synthetic stock so that the longer lower screw would not bottom out. Had to drill very carefully in order to not damage the stock. Finished with the appearance of having been installed by a professional. However, a true pro should have measured the length of his gun carrying case before installing a recoil pad which ended up makng his rifle now a fraction too long for its case. O' well, live and learn!! I'm happy with it."

Marlin Tamer,

"The pad was pre-cut and the fit was perfect, I have owned a few marlin 45-70 rifles and when I load them with my handloads at hunting velocities the rfles would kick like a mule so I installed the pad on a gude gun and took it to the range, it really took alot of the punishment out of the sighting in session and would recomend this highly."

good pads,
March 20, 2009
By williama

"Too bad these pads are not made for more pre fit applications for popular rifles and shotguns. Would have gone with the pachmayr over the other leading brand for my turkey gun(win 1300) if pachmayr had a pre fit pad for it, but they do not offer one. Could not get the pachmayr for my daughters a bolt wood stock rifle either, had to settle for what was available.
The fit for a savage model 10 synthetic stock was ok, no troubles with alignment at all, took all of maybe 5 minutes to replace the old pad with the pachmayr pad. Much better pad than some of the others on the market."

"I have a new Marlin 336w. This is not a pre fit, the drill holes do not match and the pad is too small. You would have to sand about 1/4 inch off of the bottom of the butt stock. I returned the item with no problems."

Pachmayr Recoil Pad,

"I bought the recoil pad for my Ruger Mark II M77 All Weather pre 2001 rifle. Looks nice in the box. Removed old pad and installed the 1st piece on the stock as instructed. Tried to install the pad to the 1st piece with the screws provided and they were too short. I had to go and buy two screws. I did get it installed correctly. It is not a perfcet fit but is close. This will be much better than the factory recoil pad."

"Definately worth it. Shot twenty 3" Remington Buckhammers in a row. These kick like a mule. With this recoil pad, my shoulder was just fine. Could've shot another 20...no problem. You wont be disappointed if you upgrade to this from a stock rubber pad."
