Get this rifle!!,January 8, 2009
By grindem0U812from Southern New Jersey
"After wasting money on two other spring air rifles ( I won't mention names, but rhymes with BLAMO) I was all but convinced that springers were all inaccurate. I tried this model 48 in .22 and was AMAZED. Dime sized 10 shot groups @15 yards, and quarter sized 10 shot groups @ 30 yards. You get what you pay for, spend the money, you won't be sorry."

Best Air Rifle of 3 I've owned,April 6, 2008
By Pmeg64from Washington St.
"This is the BEST , and most accurate air rifle I have owned. It is powerful, not a toy, and the groupings are tighter than anything else I have shot.
I have owned a Winchester black poly air rifle, with a break barrel loading style, and a RWS break barrel that is made in Brazil , and the break barrel design just never is accurate enough for me. I target shoot at 30 yards minimum, (90 - 100 feet) and I want hits at that range not groupings of 4 inch spreads !!"

bad rings,January 1, 2008
By guntoterfrom North East Pa
"The gun itself is the best highend airgun I have ever owned or shot. The adj. rings that came with it are the worse rings I have ever used. Cheap metal and allen wrench were so frustrating that myself and a friend gave up trying to get it to shoot straight or to group. I am an electrical cont. with a large repair shop and have been shooting for 40 years with a lot of different guns. Bought a pair of leupold rings and in ten shots was hitting a 1/2 inch ring every time at 20 yds. Do not buy the ring and scope. Do buy the gun by itself and get your own setup."

Best Gun Out There !!!!!!!!!!!!,December 8, 2007
By SteveyfromPafrom Lancaster, PA
"My grandpa got the RWS 48 for my fourteenth birthday and part for Christmas. I got it with .177 calliber and open sights and ''out of the box'' it was hitting the buleseye at 15 yards. Later I put a scope on it and put 4 shots inside a dime at 15 yards and countless shots in an 1 inch diameter target at the same distance. I put some PBA ammo in it and the stuff cracks like a .22 but with regular lead it's very quiet for it's power. It goes clean through 3/4 inch pressure treated particle wood and it's perfect for varmit hunting. I formally had a break barrel airgun and it shot about all over the place so I wanted to get one with a fixed barrel and it makes all the difference. Overall, if you are looking for a dependable, accurate, powerfull, and beautifull airgun this is the one! Buy it today!"

RWS Model 48 .22cal,August 25, 2007
By fortran42from Western North Carolina
"I received my model 48 a couple days ago. Upon inspection i noticed that the cocking lever seemed loose. On further inspection it was apparent that the threaded screw that attaches the connecting rod to the large cocking handle was broken off and it also looks like the connecting rod is bent. The remnents of the screw show that it was subjected to tremendous tensile/torsional stresses. RWS has a very good reputation in the air gun arena- what concerns me most here is : Was this gun shipped out from the factory in this manner OR was this gun a return item to Cabela's? The "Factory" tape seal was intact and the gun appears to be unfired so i'm not sure. I am sure of one thing though- I Would NOT recommend you purchase a Model 48 RWS. I'll be looking for another gun myself but i'd be hard pressed to purchase another RWS product based on my experience."

Scope setup of on the RWS 48 airguns,June 26, 2007
By hunleyfrom Virginia
"Workmanship looks good, I'll tell you about accuracy after some extensive testing with a selection of pellets. I'd strongly suggest that your description of the product should include a recommendation to use the RWS scope mount or similar mount. You must have a vertical adjustment in the mount to get the air rifle on paper easily. If you try to use a Beman mount you will have to shim the back of the receiver dovetail which is not easy as the screws look like philips head at first glance but actually are a newer design requiring better and different tooling to get the job done right. After the mount and scope are mounted with the proper elevation dialed into the RWS rear elevation adjuster (1.5 turns)you should be in business. The mount is a bit pricey but has a lot of features so it is a good value. A laser bore sighter is a great tool in getting everything alligned. The Beman mounts work well with other air rifles such as my old Feinwerkbau 124 and 300 along with the HW airguns which are models these mounts were designed for 30 + years ago. 1971 Palma Team member"

An excellent Air Rifle,April 2, 2007
By DoubleDeucefrom Austin, TX
"I am very impressed with this Model 48! Using the iron sights, it took a little getting used to. I put a 4 power scope on it and am amazed at the accuracy. At 25 yards, I was hitting consistently within a 3/4 inch circle. The rifle is well made, very solid, and heavy. The weight of the rifle helps keep it stable while the shooter is aiming. It has excellent power, with a 9.2 grain pellet penetrating almost all the way through a piece of 3/8th inch plywood. I don't doubt that the velocity is at least 900 fps and more likely around 1000-1100 as advertised. Fit and finish is good, and the trigger is crisp and clean. It is adjustable for trigger pull, but I like the factory setting. I bought it to thin out the squirrels that are ruining my trees with their gnawing rings around the major limbs. So far I have a good string of reduced squirrels. I'd highly recommend this air rifle to the serious ADULT shooter, but it is DEFINITELY NOT a kid's toy. Keep it away from kids unless you CLOSELY supervise them."
