Scope for true hunters,
November 21, 2006
By Stumpy21
from Butte, Montana
|
"I have owned my Cabela's Alaskan Guide 4.5-14X50mm scope for two years now and have used it hunting the mountains of Montana. This is easily the best scope I have owned. With the adjustable objective the scope stays clear even when cranked up to 14 power. I have had it out in the rain, snow, and cold and the scope has proven to be weatherproof and hasn't fogged up on me yet. I recently fell on the scope on a steep slope and thought it would need to be re-sighted, but it was still dead-on. My dad and brother have more expensive scopes on their rifles, and I don't think there is any difference, except the price of course. I would definately recommend this scope to anyone who wants a great scope at a good price."

Guide scope,

"Had an older Alaskan Guide scope and the range adjustment broke. I tested this scope at night against Burris Diamond and Leupold VX 3 both are much clearer and transmit more light than the Cabela scope. In my opinion, the Alskan Guide is not worth the money. Spend the extra money and get a Leupold VX 3."

"I own many scopes costing much more, and been a lot less pleased than I am with this one. The unit seems well built, the adjustments are well defined and repeatable, edge to edge clarity is excellent. I will purchase another. A very good value."

Alaskan Guid Riflescopes,
July 14, 2008

"I purchased this on sale for a great price, makred down from an already low price compared to other 20 X Mil. Dot scopes. I was impressed with the scope when I took it out of the box. Looks like it will hold up under my .264 Win. Mag. Iv'e shot the reticle out of the old Refield that originally came with the rifle, now some 38 years old. So much for burning out barrels!! Anyway the scope has very little documentation with it, just the bare essentials for nomenclature and basic reticle movement. No information about the Mil. system or this specific type of Dot scope. I've only shot 50 rounds through it so far, but no problems! Holds zero and is be able to dial up and down for bullet impact. Optics are clear and crisp compared to the Leupold on my Weatherby. The leupold may be a little brighter, but cost 6 times as much. For this old work horse of a gun, it'll do just fine.
I would recommend these scopes for the price and the quality they offer."

"I liked this scope so much I ordered two of them. the scope is just as clear as my other leupold scopes and for a third of the cost. The turrets do operate opposite of the arrow. But i don't find this to be a problem. This is a great scope and a great price."

"I purchased the 6x20 scope from the bargin cave. Very impressed with the quailty for the very low price. The scope was easy to mount on my Ruger Hawkeye. Bore sighted it with no issues and then zeroed it in 3 shots. Very clear and repeatable with true adjustments. I would highly recommend this scope."

Great Scope!,

By CHB912

"I put this on a 7mm08. It had shot disappointing groups in spite of new barrel and glass bed. After this scope was added I shot groups under an inch pretty consistently. Believe it was due to better sighting ability at 100 yards. Very fine scope- especially at this price.... better than some brand names costing much more"

Cabelas Alaskan Guide,

"These are top notch scopes, and I only wish I had learned about them earlier. I ordered a 4.5-14x50SF model about a month ago, and was so impressed, I promptly ordered a second. Light transmission and clarity are excellent, and are fantastic deals for the money. I have shot these next to my Leupolds, Nikons, Burris scopes, and they held their own with no trouble (including right up to dusk)."

Best Scope I've owned,
May 14, 2008
By FriendofBills
|
"I purchased my first Alaskan Guide scope and have it mounted on a .270. Upon reading the reviews I noted that many lower scores referenced low light situations. I played with my scope at 8:00pm in little or no light and found that if it's set at the lowest power (6.5) and the SF feature is used you could easily shoot a deer at 300 yards! I also noted that the scope works in low light only when the lens covers are removed.
I would not only recommend this scope to a friend, I purchased two more, one for my hunting buddy as a surprise and the other for my .300 win mag!
These are good scopes!"

"I have two of these scopes and you can't beat them for quality and price. They are easy to focus, are clear and can take a beating. I use them for everything from deer to varmits. Add the Cabela's return policy and you have a mighty good package. Can't go wrong with these scopes. I will buy another one."
