Walleye Jigs,
October 23, 2009
By LundAngler
from WI
|
"I pop the paint out of the eyelet before going fishing. That way I can tie on without having to waste time in the boat. I agree with the others who indicated the paint cracks easily. I use an xacto knife to get the paint out of the eyelet - seems to have less impact on the rest of the paint. I then put a clear coat on each jig to try to seal the fragile paint. If the paint cracks it will peel like and egg shell. I peel the paint off the jig and paint myself. The paint cracking so easily is a bad problem for such a quality jig."

"Jig works great for live bait, the only fault is the painted over eye holes. That wont stop me from using them though."

Comments on latest Canadian Walleye Jig,
July 20, 2009
By Walleyejeff
from Missouri and Minnesota
|
"In my opinion this is a very good jig for live bait fishermen fishing walleye in Canadian shield lakes, heavy rocks or cabbage. However, I would recommend a couple of improvements. Cabelas should return to having it made with a plastics holder (lead barb), especially now with the advent of Gulp. Live bait users can simply ignore the holder. Also, I really would like to see it made in 3/8 ounce size as well. Color selection is very good as is paint quality. This is a dynamite jig, but I believe the old one was better."

Walleye Jigs,
May 18, 2009
By tevans
from Canton, Oklahoma
|
"These jigs would be 5 star + if the eyes were not painted shut and the paint didnt chip so easy. On the plus side they work great for tipping with minnows. I have used them now for three years on Canton Lake, Oklahoma for walleyes and have had great success with them. I will continue using them even though they are a pain to get the paint out of the eyes."

Canadian Walleye Jigs,

"These are some of the best jigs I have used. The kahle style hook makes for quick lip stuck fish. Paint may chip but I use several coats of clear to help keep the paint intact."

Hookup rate outstanding,
January 5, 2009
By doesntfit
from Colorado Springs, CO
|
"This is the second time I have ordered this jig, and as long as Cabela's carries them I will continue to do so. The hookup rate with these jigs is outstanding even on light-bite-days and almost always the fish are hooked in the upper jaw. I have used them on walleye, bass, and trout, both here in Colorado and in MN on BWCA trips."

Canadian walleye jig,
October 4, 2008
By wallyboy
from illinois
|
"Just returned from canada and had great suscess with this jig. Like others indicated the paint chip off eaisly, but the more that chipped off the more fish we caught. Finally the paint was bare. From that point on we would strip all the paint on other JIGS."

jigs,
June 23, 2008
By stotts
|
"The 1/8 oz jigs are a great jig. We use them for pitching into the shallows in the rocks and casting off the dock and drag them back. The hook up ratio is great as the walleyes inhale this jig completely. The only down fall is the paint is too brittle. It does not take long and no matter what color you use it will be lead colored in a short while."

painted walleye jigs,
January 28, 2008
By caatfish
from Fenton Mo
|
"all of the jigs had the heads dipped in paint and filled the hook eye. the paint being hard was verry difficult to clean from the eyes to make them usable. I spent several hours cleaning the eyes and a lot of paint chipped of of the jig head. I had plurchased approximately 250 jigs. you can see what a pain that could be."

Walleye jigs EAH.,
November 25, 2006
By TommySalami
from Exeter Pa.

"I like these jigs because of the angle the hook sits.I can slide my gulp bait up in the bend just behind the barb to look like a feeding bait fish,or down closer to the head and drag it on the bottom.I never had a problem with hook sets with these jigs."

Canadian 1/16 oz Jigs,
November 20, 2006
By deb1219

"We use the canadian walleye jigs with 2 inch power baits for perch fishing in the St Lawrence river. They are the best working jig I have used in shallow water. Its suprising how much small mouth bass also enjoy them."
