No more wasted time checking for strikes,June 17, 2009

"An awsome addition to my planer boards. Once the tension is set correctly it works great. Try drilling extra holes in spring mounting holes for even more fine tuning."

"It is a good detection method once you get the feel of it. When running deep diving, hard pulling crankbaits in rough water, adjusting the spring tension is necessary (buying additional springs at the hardware store). It does take a lot of patience and practice, as the amount of tension applied will depend on wind conditions and lure selection. For hardcore anglers who spend a lot of time pulling crankbaits they are a must, but I think for the average weekend angler the tedious task of determining the perfect spring tension for different lures in different weather conditions is a bit time consuming. Pulling shallow diving crankbaits is a cinch with tattles, but for the big deep divers, my advice to the weekend angler would be flatlines when fishing deep water, forego the guesswork and time consumption it takes to become proficient in the use of planer boards and flags, unless of course time is not an issue. That being said, if your going to troll more than two lines, planer boards are a must. And if your set on running boards, you need to get flags and learn how to read them."
