"I have found this product to be very poor. Topo detail is well below average. Road detail and accuracy is terrible. National Forest boundries are inaccurate. BLM is not depicted. Even though this product loads easily and displays fast, I do not like it. I am a hunter, hiker, and Geo Cacher and this product does not fullfill my needs. I only gave it one Star because there was no lower score."

"I was very disappointed in the lack of detail this topo has. If you really need to see the terrain you will be walking through I suggest buying a topo map. Not bad if you need a general idea."

"I previously used mapsource topo maps for my handheld GPS. They worked fine, except you had to buy the maps in regions, so you would end up paying like $400 for the entire US.
I recently purchased this Garmin Topo DVD for less than $100, and it included the entire US, including Alaska and Hawaii.
The maps loaded effortlessly to both my PC and my Garmin handheld GPS unit. I'm pretty sure these maps are compatible with other brand GPS models too.
I've had no problems at all with this software and am very impressed by the detail of the maps! I highly recommend this product!"

"I srongly recommend this product to other's interested in knowing exactly where they are in the woods. Not only is the program easy to understand and use but it is easy to transfer saved points back to the map on your computer. I have found a few mistakes on the map with logging roads but aas far as anything else , no problem ."

Worth the upgarade?,March 17, 2008

"I have used an earlier version of Mapsource for several years and wanted to upgrade my sofware when I recently purchased a new Garmin GPS. The new version of Mapsource has some new details and much better graphics if you are using it on your PC and printing maps to take on your next hike or sporting trip but these upgrades don't show up as well on the GPS's small screen. I do a lot of fishing along the ocean coastline and the old version had details of the offshore area but he new version has eliminated that info. Now I need to drop another $100 for the Blue Water disc. Have yet to find out of the two will reside simultaniously on my GPS (I doubt it)."

"This is a decent product but I was disappointed at the lack of detail. I believe it is 1:100000 and at that scale the relief lines are simply not close enough. Atleast not in the area I wanted to use it for. I bought it for scouting possible treestand locations and find it almost useless for that application. Live and learn I guess."
