"Bought it to protect the GPS of course. Works great for that aspect, but there is no hole for the 12 volt cord to plug into. Every time you plug it into the vehicle or the computer, you have to remove it from the case, which is why I gave it only 3 stars."

Belt clip doesn't work,

"The belt clip and the lanyard ring, instead of being attached to the case, slide into a pocket sewn on the back of the case. The first 100yds down the trail, the clip slid right back out of the pocket and the case (and my new etrex) dropped softly to the ground. Not acceptable! The good news was that it protected the unit from the fall, the plastic screen protected it from scratches, and the buttons are accessible. Good idea, poor execution."

Great case for my new garmin GPS,

"I have recently purchased a new garmin vista HCx model GPS. I wanted to protect my investment, so I bought the case that Cabelas had. It works perfect, since it has the clear front cover to allow me to see the display. All the buttons are accessible with the case fit over the unit. The clip on the case allows it to be attached to my belt while walking.
Well worth the money."

"The eTrex carrying case works well protecting my GPS unit from ordinary use scratches......I once ruined the carrying case on my wife's Garmin by accidentally getting some insect spray with Deet on the clear plastic. Deet eats the clear plastic up, but the case kept the Deet from damaging the GPS unit......so I bought another!

"Good sturdy product. Allows you to use the buttons, but protects the GPS. Also will protect the screen from scratches. The only down side is that it is a little hard to see the screen in lower light."

"I had my new Etrex legend for about a week when I saw a minor scratch. I replaced my old camera case with the Etrex case with the plastic viewing window. I can use the unit in the case and I can clip the unit to my belt. The only improvement I would make is adding a compartment for spare batteries. Bob"
