good yoyo/jugline hook,July 25, 2009
By catfishkillaafrom Oklahoma
"Very good hook for yoyo or jug fishing for catfish, strong to.Only problem i have noticed (easily solvable with a hook sharpener) is the "sharpness out of the box" they are alil dull at first.Over all tho very good for catfish i use them in #5/0 for big baits like cut shad and whole perch etc."

Circle hooks are the way to go!,June 30, 2009
By Kruman22from Nebraska
"I've taken my grandchildren (ages 2 - 9) fishing for bluegill for several years now, and although the intent is to catch and release, we have to keep many because they swallow the hook. I used the Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp L702 circle hooks last time we fished for bluegill, and every single fish except one ended up being lip hooked! What a pleasure to be able to release these bluegill to grow and fight another day. I've used circle hooks in saltwater, and they really do result in more jaw/lip hookups than swallows, and it appears even on small-mouthed fish like bluegill they result in many fewer gut-hooked fish. Every panfisherman should give these a try! (I used size 6 and 8 on bluegill.)"

Catch-and-Release Trout,June 16, 2009
By ShopperDavefrom Tennessee
"Powerbait will stay on the #12 or #14 hooks nicely, and if you are patient and don't mind missing one or two, will wind up nicely hooked in the corner of the mouth, just as advertised."

Circle hooks for trout,April 20, 2009
By MikeB62from CA/IL
"Their absolutely perfect for trout, bass, crappie etc. I used my first ones several years ago and was not dissapointed. If your looking for hooks that will catch fish and won't damage the fish for release these are the ones.
A word of caution! Do not set the hook, it is not necessary. The fish will take and it will embed automatically. If you set the hook, it will pull out, where as letting the fish take normally gives you a perfect set, and a caught fish."

A must for stocked trout!,April 6, 2009
By SimmZfrom Delmont PA
"I recently fished these near Elkins WV in the stocked rivers about Randolph County. I was using #12 hooks with pink salmon eggs and 6 lb test with a 7'6" spinning rod. After getting the right amount of size BB and 3/0 split shots adjusted for the water speed I was able to drift fish these effectively. Needless to say the trout couldn't see them and when swallowed they were deadly hooked! I'll continue to buy only these type of hooks for bait trout fishing."

GREAT for channel cats,February 19, 2009
By dacantleyfrom OH
"i use these in a river where i drift a minnow and bobber over a 3 foot deep riffle and can get anywhere between 8-22" channel catfish all day. anyone who fishes for catfish knows how well they can swallow the hook, but the problem is virtually eliminated with these. rather than having to worry about getting up all my slack in time and if i set the hook enough to get through a catfish mouth, all you have to do is have a tight line and let the fish hook itself. i honestly dont think ive missed a solid strike with these hooks and i definately havent had any fish come off the hook. all fish were hooked in the corner of the mouth as advertised."

stocked trout,November 27, 2008
By KLWCfrom MA
"I use size 12 for fishing powerbait eggs. One egg will easily float this hook. The hooks are ideal for fishing stocked trout. They reduce the number fish hooked in the gut and make releasing the fish much easier."

Goby Champ!! :-) :-),October 9, 2008
By roblincofrom Sarnia, Ontario
"Hadn't fished since I was a kid, so thought I would take it up again now that I am retiring. Circle hooks? What the heck are those?? Googled the subject extensively and ordered an array from Cabela's. (Great Service - fast and accurate) While I was fishing for perch and pickerel in the St. Clair River using a no. 4 Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp L702 circle hook, Round Gobies kept stealing my bait. (Gobies number 100 per square meter in parts of the St. Clair River, and are known for an amazing ability to avoid the hook while stealing your bait,)! So I switched to a no. 10, armed with the best known brand of scented artificial bait (waxie), using ultralight tackle and 4 lb test, and discovered that the Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp circle hook in the no 10 size is a goby killer!! I hauled up 18 of the ugly little pests while no one around me was catching anything. That may not be such a great achievement, but I learned two things that day. 1) Circle hooks work as advertised 2) Eagle Claw hooks are very sharp! Just let the Goby start swimming away with your bait and he hooks himself! No need to set the hook (in fact if you DO try to set the hook, you will probably yank it right out of the fish's mouth). So if you are taking your young son, daughter, nephew or niece fishing, remember that they love to catch ANYTHING and would probably love to bag a mess of gobies as much as you would love to bag a mess of walleye! As a bonus, you would be doing your small part to help control the invasive Round Goby. Cheers!"

The best hook sets ever.,January 22, 2008
By MWattsfrom California
"I've always relied entirely on treble hooks to catch trout and other fish with small mouths. But I found out about these on eagle claws web site. Eagle claw says they are the best for trout. They were right these hooks are impressive. We have turned more hits into fillets sense trying these hooks and so will you."

Circle hooks????,July 9, 2007
By ptnvtfrom Vermont
"I trout fish in Vermont and quite often smaller fish were swallowing my hooks. To preserve the life of the fish, I cut my line, sacrificing a hook. However, sometimes it was too embedded to save the fish. A friend told me about circle hooks, I tried them, and not a swallowed hook in my last two trips--caught about 4-6 small fish each time. They took a little getting used too--can't set the hook old style, but I will continue to use them."

sharp,June 22, 2007
By ilovefishingfrom manchester, IA
"these stay really sharp and are cheaper than other brands so i buy these. they are great. the only problem is that after a while they rust easier than other hooks. that doesent matter to me though because if they rust they are cheap enough to go buy new ones more frequently. other brands that would get a little expensive even if they lasted just a little bit longer."

"I've developed my own quick strike rig for fall sucker fishing in Wisconsin. It wouldn't be the best rig around without this hook. Nearly every fish is hooked in the corner of its mouth which makes for quick and easy releases of big Wisconsin Muskies. Bar-none they're the best."

L702 HOOKS SUPREME,November 22, 2006
By KINGCATMANfrom HEMET,CA.
"I FOUND THE L702 HOOKS SEARCHING FOR HOOKS THAT WOULD ALLOW FOR BETTER AND SAFER CATCH AND RELEASE ON TROUT. MORE TIMES THAN NOT, THE HOOK WOULD CATCH IN THE LIP AS ADVERTISED. EVEN SWALLOWED HOOKS WERE REMOVED WITH A GOOD HOOK REMOVER. THE SIZE #14 COMPLIMENTS VERY WELL WITH BERKLEY POWER EGGS AND WORMS. ALSO THE L702 HOOKS WORKS FOR BOPPERING FISHING FOR BLUEGILL. THE HOOKS ARE ALSO QUITE DURABLE. I HAVE ALSO CAUGHT CATFISH AND BASS ON THE SMALLER SIZE HOOKS WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE OR BREAKAGE TO THE HOOK. THE SHARPNESS OF THE HOOK IS UNCOMPARABLE TO ANY OTHER HOOK THAT I HAVE USED. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RE-USE THE SAME HOOK OVER MANY TIMES. I HAVE GIVEN THESE HOOKS TO SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS."
