"The competitive nature between the fish and the fisherman drives the passion to find a better solution for success. So it has for me.
I fish with a two-handed rod in the surf in So Cal and retrieving a lot of line when I had a strike makes it difficult to keep the fish on my barbless hook.
Well, I found my solution and the results astound me. Where I would land about half of the fish I hooked, it is no longer a problem.
Heavier Surf:
15 fish on, 12 fish landed, 3 fish got off, and 2 strikes I would have hooked on the standard fly hooks.
Light Surf:
11 fish, 11 fish landed, 0 fish got off, and 2 strikes I would have hooked on thestandard fly hooks that I use.
Size 10 is my hook of choice. What does this mean? I have a new toy and I get to tie my favorite patterns on new hooks."

Great for "Wacky" rigging,September 11, 2007

"I use this hook exclusively for "Wacky" rigging. Works extremely well on Smallies in clear water. Use a rubber "O"ring and just slide the "O"ring over the hook. Great for kids or beginners as there is no need for a hook set."

"I can highly recommend these Eagle Claw circle hooks. I've used them primarily for live bait fishing - bream fishing with crickets and leech fishing for smallmouth. Like it says on the box, just reel them in. The positioning of the eye and hook point help this hook head straight for the fish's jaw when you lift up on your rod. It works best when you don't "set" the hook hard but apply even pressure. I've found it to be a great hook for beginner fishermen and children who naturally don't have a "hook set" habit already. The hooks are very sharp and don't need excessive yanking to get it into the fish's mouth wall. If you can remember the no hook set rule, circle hooks will become one of your top 5 favorite hooks. Now I'm a believer too."
