g loomis glx,August 10, 2009
By palmerpakfrom Utah
"I have three different loomis rods and have no complaints with any of them. I broke the first one and the replacement procedure was fast and smooth w/o any questions. All I had to do was expain how the rod broke. These rods make fishing much more enjoyable, especially if you use a jig all day. I have never felt any back pain like I have with heavier, less sensitive rods. (I'm a roughneck for a living and am in really good shape) I only need one more of these to complete my arsenal!"

Not for salt water fishing,February 23, 2009
By paul77from Grassy Key ,FL
"A great blank, a five star rod. I bought it after seeing it in the store and though that it would be perfect for salt water fishing, I was wrong. The handle, though very comfortable, was way to short for trying to land strong salt water fish. The rod was also to short. I am back to the G.Loomis "Green Water" line of salt water rods."

The best light spinning rod,July 12, 2008
By willbedone
"I just got done going on a fishing trip with my brother in which I used my G. Loomis GLX SR842-2 7' light action fishing rod. To say that it was a pleasure to use, is an understatement. Pairing it with a Shimano ultra light reel and six pound test line, it cast like a dream and far! It handled 1/8 to 1/2 oz lures easily. I caught a bunch of smaller bass: 1 to 1 1/2 pounds and the rod was lots of fun. It will be my main rod for any light line fishing. Expensive but worth it."

"I have used this rod only a couple of times and by far this is the best rod I have ever used. I have used the st croix legend rod which is also very good but this so far is the boss. Every little nick, twitch, bump if your paying attention you can feel it. It has good back bone for good hook ups and hard to put down to switch to another what more can I say if you can deal with the expense get it..... you wont be sorry"

GLX SJR783,February 21, 2008
By PatrickATfrom San Diego, CA
"This is by far the most sensitive rod I have ever used. I use it for fishing Largemouth in the lakes around San Diego, and it is ideal. When I first began using this rod, I would often think I was getting a bite when my weight would land on a rock because it is so sensitive. This rod excels when you need to feel light pickups, like when the fish are in spawn or they are deep. The only thing about this rod that I think could be better is the handle. It is a little thicker than I would like it to be, and the way the reel seat is designed, your finger ends up resting on the screw part of the seat. I dont think you sacrifice any sensitivity because of this, but I think GLoomis could have developed a better reel seat system. Also, the butt of the rod has a plastic cap on the end, and while this doesnt affect the usability of the rod, crushed cork (like that featured on the butt of the GLoomis Mossyback Series) would have looked much nicer. Dont let the few drawbacks discourage you from buying this rod, It is without a doubt worth every penny if you truely love fishing."

Loomis GLX and IMX Rods,November 6, 2007
By denitafrom South Bend, IN
"Loomis rods are not for the casual occasional fisherman but if you can afford them, there is nothing better. I have been very happy with the sensitivity of this same rod in the IMX series and I am very anxious to give the GLX a try in Canada this spring. These rods allow me to catch more walleyes than the rest of my group. I'd like to say it is all my skill but the rod allows me to feel every pick-up. I bought one for my son and he caught moe walleyes with it than any year prior and he loves it. Thanks Loomis for some great products."

G. Loomis GLX-SJR782 Medium Power Spinning Rod,August 27, 2007
By Fisheverydayicanfrom Holland Patent, New York
"I recently purchased this rod the GLX-SJR782 and have used it extensively. Since I have had experience with other G. Loomis rods (a GLX-SJR722 and a GL3-SR6010-2) it was no surprise as to how successful my fishing was while using the GLX-SJR782. It is a useful companion to the SJR722 which is 6' in length (wonderful rod also). Although they are both medium power rods, the GLX-SJR782 which is 6'6" allows for some differences in application. The primary target species was largemouth bass, but smallmouth bass, crappie and other panfish were also caught. Although the rods can be expensive depending upon the type of graphite (GL2, GL3, IMX or GLX) chosen; I highly recommend the G. Loomis rods as they not only are well constructed, deliver what is advertised but also have what I consider to be a great warranty in terms of their expedite service. This last point is important to me because strong company customer service in many areas of our life is disappearing. Also, consider that they are Made in the USA. I plan to purchase other G. Loomis rods in the future. They have definitely improved my fishing in terms of honing my skills and most importantly; catching more fish!"

The BEST of the BEST trout or finesse bass rods!,August 11, 2007
By Zugbugzfrom Avondale, AZ
"I own the GLX SR842-2 (7', light, two-piece). I have to admit, this is one expensive rod, but it's also the finest spinning rod I've ever used for trout. It is so light you can fire away all day and the GLX provides a little more powerful feel than the GL3 (I also own a GL3 in the same size and configuration). The quality of this rod is amazing. Beautiful, gray low glare finish, titanium framed guides, the weight of an ultralight, but with more power...it just oozes high tech. This is a great trout or smallie rod for float tubing on lakes or spin fishing from the bank on big rivers or lakes. It's very easy to get your casts anywhere you want them, near or far. Price aside, highly recommended! I also own the GLX SJR783 one piece 6'6" medium action and it is simply a fantastic rod for light worming and finesse (especially split-shotting). It also works great for drop shot. It too has the beautiful titanium guides and high tech finish. I use mine from a float tube and what a blast this rod has been. Weight-wise, it has the heft of a light trout rod, but much stiffer. Where this rod really shines is on your local bass lake. You feel every tick of the bottom and the lightest bites. It is not a rod for horsing big bass from cover, but that is not its intended purpose. It is a great river rod for bass, but finesse fishing on lakes is where it shines! This is probably the most sensitive rod around for split shotting and again, expensive but very recommended."

G. Loomis SJR 721 GLX spinning rod,March 18, 2007
By Jmazzfrom Dubuque, Iowa
"A super light weight rod with plenty of backbone. I used this rod up in Manitoba last year vertical jigging 8" reapers for northern pike. Two of the fish I boated were Masters at 41 1/2" in length. No problem taming them with this rod! Pricey, yes, but well worth it."

Telegraph to the bottom,March 9, 2007
By gearcollectorfrom Great lakes region
"The most sensitive rod I have ever used. I favor them for any type of jigging, worming, or light strike detecting spin fishing I do. You can literally feel a Walleye gringing it's teeth on your minnow. You can distinguish every bump on the bottom from rock to mud to gravel, etc. The light weight gives me the least fatigue for hours of fishing comfort. I hesitated spending the money, but am very happy I did. Sometimes you spend a lot more, but don't get the performance in return. This rod gives you every pennies worth."

The Best,November 24, 2006
By Bassmfeverfrom Redmond Wa.
"G loomis GLX rods are the most sensitive rods on the market. I fish IMX and GLX spin rods for bass and walleye and what a kick in the pants, by far the funnest rod as well. Feel the bite better and let the rod tire the fish out instead of tireing you out from fishing all day. The price is well worth it and G Loomis has so many other fun rods to choose from, it make fishing that much funner, Try one you'll be hooked"
