Always a producer,May 4, 2009
By WestMichiganTrouterfrom Grand Rapids, MI
"For me, mepp's spinners have always been a staple. I have always used #3's and #5's for pike, and #0's and #1's for trout. A very consistent lure, I always default to these when I can't decide what to throw."

bass love it,April 15, 2009
By Anonymousfrom I live and fish in Ohio.
"I use the #3 mepps spinnerbait, gold or silver,(gold preferred), all through the Winter, right up into May. This bait is a killer for bass in March and April. I like to pull it over the top of weeds or lilly pads before they get a good start. You can not beat it for an early spring bait in Ohio."

Big Lake Fish,October 22, 2008
By Raiderbofrom Long Island, NY
"Just got a couple of silver and gold #2s. Fished at Crystal Lake in Cooperstown NY this past Columbus Day weekend, bagged (3) 19 & 20 in. Pickerel & (2) 15 in. Large Mouths plus another dozen of Perch, Small mouth and Pickerel. All on the Mepps Dressed Algia. The silver/gold/copper blades seem to work best."

No Paint Left,August 16, 2008
By RogerHfrom Jenks, Oklahoma
"Took these to Northern Manitoba. There was literally no paint left on some when I came back. 36" Northerns tear them up. The hot color this trip was the chartruse with the white tail. Have every color combo in your tackle box. They will always hit one."

mepps dressed aglia spinner #011-- red/white #3,July 21, 2008
By leprachaunfrom Machiasport, ME
"When I go bass fishing with my friends this is basically the only lure that I take along. I usually have at least 5 to make it through the typical full day of fishing. I never change the lure regardless of how slow the fishing is and by the end of the day my count is usually 2 to 3 times what anyone else has caught. I usually go through about 25 of them every summer and that is only because I also catch pickerel with them and they simply tear the dressing right off of them........"

Best of the Best,March 18, 2008
By PardeeLakeFisher
"When it comes to Pike and Musky lures, nothing beats a mepps spinner! My personal favorite is the number 4 gray tail with the red and white tag(011). When no other lure seems to be working, I can always count on this one to bring in the fish. I've caught many Pike and several muskies with it. Just a few years ago I caught a 44.5 inch muskie with it. The brown tail with gold tag(002) is also one of my favorites. This lure will be sure to please!"

By Jop91from N. Royalton, OH
"I never used to do much river fishing until now... I threw this lure into a small hole of water on the Rocky and within 2 casts i had myself a 1 lb rock bass. Within 5 minutes of fishng the hole i had caught 3 rock bass and 1 largemouth and a couple chubs. I was amazed by this lure's performance, it is a must for all river fishing!"

AWESOME BAIT!!!,September 10, 2007
By osubuckeye
"I have several of these baits and absolutely love them. Whenever the bite is a little hard, these still catch fish.
With the #3 Aglia, I've caught Catfish, LM Bass, and some good sized Crappie. The #2 has caught me the same fish, along with some nice sized gills.
You can run these baits pretty slow and still get great action. They're tough and will catch big numbers of fish.
On the box it says that they have caught more record fish than any bait, and I definitely believe that."

I've used these for over 35 years,July 16, 2007
By CTBassDavefrom Connecticut
"The Mepps Aglia spinner comes in many sizes and varities. Generally, the larger the Mepps, the larger the fish you'll catch. I use these mostly for Largemouth bass and use sizes 3, 4 or 5. The Mepps Comet is also very good for bass too. These Mepps lures are a good alternative to crank baits, and seem to work well when the action is slow on other baits."

Mepps Pike Killer,November 21, 2006
By NJhounddogfrom Tuckerton, NJ
"With 30 years of fresh water fishing under my belt I have to admit to using (or losing) quite a few of the mepps line of in line spinners over time.
My favorite, the Old red/white #5 with all the dings, scratches and bite marks still gets its share of use. But this newer desgin I picked up this past summer for my fall pike fishing trip to Canada is quickly gaining a spot near the top of the box.
It was consistent in attracting pike with good casting range, ability to vary retrieves based on speed, and or depth and hookups without shake offs.
I also used it vertical jigging for suspended fish and it worked well.
Sometimes color makes a difference and in this case, the color and the dressing did seem to make a difference."

Mepps,November 21, 2006
By brenkfrom rome, ny
"this lure is durable - it catches largemouth, smallmouth, walleyes, panfish, and northern pike. I caught my largest northern - 42" using a #5 silver blade with a white tail. the only part that wears out is the tail, we handle a lot of northerns and they chomp down on the tail."

Lac Seul,November 20, 2006
By Goodsenseluresprguyfrom Lockport, IL
"This was our 3th trip in 3 years to Lac Seul Lake in Ont. Canada. Every year the most fish are caught with the #5 Mepps Dressed Aglia Spinner in all colors. If one lure color was better I would have to say the White tail with red white and blue spinner. We caught Northern Pikes, Walleyes, Small Bass and even some Perch. So if on a island in the great white north and I had to pick one lure. You guessed #5 Mepps Dressed Aglia Spinner. Don't go to the great white north with a bunch."

Mepps - better than they need to be!!!,November 20, 2006
By fredcfrom Winooski,VT
"I've been using dressed aglia spinners since 1971, and have caught Muskies, Northern Pike, Small and Largemouths and Perch. My wife started using these lures @ 4 years ago and now almost exclusively uses Mepps. We aren't diehard fishermen, but love our time on the water. My largest fish have been a 7.5 lb. Northern and a 5.5 lb. Smallmouth. My wife caught a 6 lb. Northern and a 3lb.14 oz. Smallmouth. These were all caught on Mepps dressed # 4 bucktails. When I talk with experienced fishermen, they look at me funny when I tell them what works for us, but it's their loss. We do some trolling and that's where these guys really shine. I'll use Mepps as long as I'm able to fish and I know I'll never get skunked. Dressed or not they simply are the best."
