Great Product,August 24, 2009
By ebondfrom Indiana
"I used the Berkley Big Game Lip Grip with Digital Scale a few weeks ago on my annual trip to Canada. It worked flawlessly and was a key asset in our boat when we hooked into big Northern's and Walleye. You just have to remember to reset the weight before gripping the fish... it consistantly held 10+ lb fish with no problems. This is a wonderful tool to weigh your fish and also hold them so no slime gets on the floor of your boat.... therefore eliminating the black flies before they start!!!!!"

Invaluable for bigger fish,August 1, 2009
By kayakbassman
"I was so happy I had this tool along with me the first week I had it as I caught a 40", 19lb Northern while fishing for Bass. I fish from a kayak and if I hadn't had this tool, I don't know how I would have been able to measure it or get my hook removed from it's lip. The Lip Grip worked as advertised and even though the fish gave me a couple spins, the Lip Grip held on and kept the fish from getting injured. The only problem I have had so far with this tool is that early one morning I got a little bit of condensation on the inside of the screen over the digital read-out that made it a little difficult to read, otherwise I would have given a perfect score."

Berkley Grip Scale,July 16, 2009
By duckman715from Richmond, VA
"I purchased three of these lip grip digital scales for a recent fishing trip. This trip is an annual event for six of us and the competition is fierce. Our prizes are based upon weight of the fish so accuracy in weighing the fish is quite important.
Just to be sure of the scales accuracy I tested them using known weights just prior to the trip. Without exception all three of the scales were off. The weighing errors ranged from 6 oz. to 11 oz and none of the scales gave the same reading twice - even though the same test weights were used. Following the very limited manufacturer's instructions to zero out the scales proved futile in correcting the problems.
Needless to say, these scales were totally useless for our purposes. They are inaccurate, unreliable and uncorrectable. I have used Berkley products for years but cannot begin to express my disapointment in this item. Simply put, it is worthless."

Great for catch & release will not harm the fish.,July 14, 2009
By fishfastfrom Salt Lake City, Utah
"Even active fish that flip around on the grip move freely with the grip floating free of the handle so the fish literally spins sideways with with it's energy and still not harmed.
However the digital display is very sensitive to the sun so make sure the display faces away from the sun to maike it easy to read the weight. Love the automatic off switch, but be sure to set the grip with display facing away from the sun or it will go black on you.
With the aforementioned caveot I reccomend this unit to anyone who wants to safely & easily lift, weigh and release fish. Heck if you want to keep thsm it's an excellent tool too! It looks great in the fish photo's too for size comparison with the trophy!"

Hang the fish weigh the fish,July 14, 2009
By MrWonderfulfrom Texas and Ohio
"Great in all respects except one-you must set the scale to zero just before you grip the fish if you want it weighred. Not a good technique sequnce-you fight a fish to the boat or shore, you only have so many hands-setting the scale to zero at that point just dosent wok. It does grip the fish well, it does release well. So far seems durable. Id recomment it to the friend if they dont want a scale."

Berkley Lip Grip Tool,June 22, 2009
By Houchfrom Laramie, Wyoming
"It works great, beats getting poked with spines. It is great for catch and release, you don't have to handle the fish and it doesn't tare up the fish. Easy to use tape measure, a real asset when you have a minimum length requirement. However, the tape measure stuck inside of the housing. I sprayed it with WD40 and it works much better now."

good price, but you get what you pay for....,June 16, 2009
By ScottKfrom New Jersey
"other than having to clean and lubricate it after every trip in the saltwater... these are great for the price.... getting sand in these lippers renders them inoperable no matter the amount of lube.... i would have thought a lipper would have been designed to resist on mild solid contaminants like sand...."

Great Fishermans Tool,March 23, 2009
By Beebasserfrom Lafayette, Ga.
"I love my new Berkley Lip Grips. It is perfect for grabbing a fish at the side of the boat and lifting it out of the water. As soon as you get it lifted, you can hold the fish with it to remove the hooks, then check the weight of your fish before releasing or placing in your livewell. One thing that I first had a little problem with was, in the excitement of pulling in a fish you must turn the digital scales on and zero them before lifting the fish. It isn't a problem, after a few times it becomes a habit. I was a little skeptical about the strength of the grips when they first arrived. They are very easy to open and I wondered if they would hold a big fish. I tested them on several heavy objects in the house before I trusted them on one of my prize catches. I have since caught and boated several Bass with my Berkley Lip Grips, including an 8lb.,a 7lb,and a 4.5 lb Bass in the past two weekends. I have total confidence in these Lip grips/scales and they are the best way to lift and weigh a good fish."

Great product,March 11, 2009
By 70Mach1from Gilmer, TX
"I love my Berkley Lip Grip. I have used it several times now at lake Fork, and it is very quick and easy to use. The best thing I like about it is that it will not harm the fish in any way. It is well built and should last a very long time. The digital screen is very easy to read. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality scale that is easy to use."

"A great all in one lip grip and scale. But I do find switching it on or resetting it a bit difficult. Buttons don't respond easily. Also don’t leave it in the sun or you won’t be able to read the LCD display."

Digital Scale defective,January 5, 2009
By Danap33from Dumont, NJ
"The digital scale on one of the Lip Grip Tools did not work. My dad didn't seem too upset with his non-working Xmas gift since he already read the reviews on this item and new they were somewhat fragile and faulty. I'm hoping the exchange process will be painless."

Convience/Ease of use,October 15, 2008
By FISHnFREAKfrom SK,CAN
"I have the lip grip with scale and find it to be a nice item, easy to use even with cold hands, makes catch and release quick and easy even with Large Northern Pike (provided they are not hooked-up to badly). I did, however, seal the battery screw-cap (near the end of the handle) with some tape for added water tightness and to ensure handle does not come unthreaded if attached to large unhappy critter."

Good but fragile,August 26, 2008
By BadBassfrom Vermont
"The lip grip is perfect and great for holding those aggressive monsters like musky, northerns and bowfin. However, the digital scale is fragile. One wrong bump and it is shot so protect it accordingly.
If you're rough on your equipment, stick to the spring loaded."
