"I really have taken advantage of this program, compared to other good fly-casting DVD's it had showed me the importance to concentrate in the right movements until you feel comfortable with your casting mechanics."

Real Help,April 25, 2008

"This video is the one that showed me the proper loading of the rod. I have Joan's and Lefty's videos and some others which are very good. But this is the one finally showed me what I had been missing. I added power and efficiency to my casts with less effort after following the steps outlined by the course. Its not just for saltwater casters either. Everyone will benefit from the instructions as long as you follow the steps in the right order and do all the exercises."

Saltwater Flycasting,December 28, 2007

"I just bought this dvd based on the one review that had already been posted, and I am very happy with it. I am a self taught fly caster who learned from reading and have spent the majority of my years fishing small trout streams and have always been satisfied with the results. However, I've also always had trouble with casting for distance and with heavier flys and knew I needed help. And, just from the couple of times I've gone out on the lawn to practice the lessons this video gives you I can see that the information provided is very good. I also like the way that information is presented. It's very straight forward accompanied with some good graphics, along with using examples from other sports that gets the point he's trying to make easy to understand. So why a four and not a five? Well, for one this is the only video I've ever had and so don't have anything to compare it with so maybe others out there are as good or even better. Second, the manual is full of good info but makes for awful dry reading and thus could have been done better. Also, I agree with the other reviewer's comment that a better title could have been used. This is definately a video about casting for distance with the basics also being highlighted. However, as I said, personnally I think its very good and would highly recommended it to others."

Excellent,December 18, 2007

"The only real negative I can think of for this video is the title, because what he teaches are the basics and important for all fly casters (more on this later.) This is not a video you pop in and watch, its designed almost like an on-line course in fly casting. The host does not promise you will become a great caster overnight - in fact at one point in the video he suggests that you practice for MONTHS before moving on to the next lesson. There are no gimmicks, no secrets, his approach is very plain and methodical, with one step building on the next. He advocates drilling and shows you how to practice. The DVD was actually made with experienced casters in mind, to re-teach them proper mechanics, since in New England at least an excpetional trout angler can fish his whole life and never cast much further than 40' and bad habits and poor form that work at 40' don't work at 100'. If you are a beginner you are ahead of the game, because you have the opportunity to learn it right the first time. Thats why I think the title is a misnomer. The host is not as charismatic as Mel Krieger or Lefty Kreh - but he is better at showing you exactly what you need to do to become a better caster. He slow motion techniques work exceptionally well, essentially for difficult concepts to see like drift or creep."
