"When you have the ability to quickly change your tackle you get on more fish quicker. I use these nippers with the pinon for quick hands free access to change my rig and get on the fish. I use these in fresh water for flies as it was designed but also for freshwater conventional fishing and even salt water fishing. I don't go fishing without my nippers. Makes a great gift."

nipper with pin on,
October 19, 2009
By Nautico
from Honolulu, Hawaii
|
"The nipper will not cut well because the cutting edge is not bent enough. I had to bend the end of the nipper and re-sharpen the cutting edge before it would cut. The pin on also had to be worked on before it would pin on and stay on. This is the second Cabela's nipper that I purchased from Cabela's. The first one which was purchased from the Cabela's store in Reno worked well from the start."

Best deal around in nippers,
December 26, 2008
By MisterNymph
from Central PA

"I can't count how many of these I've had but I keep buying them because they are good and inexpensive. I lose some, plus a few nippers get dull and can't be sharpened easily, but at this price, I just throw them away and get another nipper. I have had one pin-on retractor cord break but all the rest that haven't been lost still work smoothly. The C-type pin clip can come open accidentally and I now bend it down more; this makes the pin more difficult to remove from my vest (so I have one on each vest), but at least it doesn't come open unexpectedly. The nipper has a hook eye-cleaning point that is very useful but the swivel clip that attaches the nipper to the retractor cord has minimal clearance for allowing the nipper to swing freely, and this has sometimes annoyed me when trying to get at the point; if you find that, simply add a slightly larger swivel clip to the existing one and the problem is solved. The nipper will readily cut through leader up to 30 lb test, or most flyline; I have not tested it on heavy saltwater tackle, however."

By Poolboy316

"First the pin on is of high quality, no complaint there. The nipper on the other hand is of poor design. when attached to pin on you can not use the needle for anything. nipper is not very sharp, and just feels cheaply made. Im upgrading."

Nipper with Pin-On,

By 1234Drifter

"Pin-On attachment to the Nipper does not allow full use of the Nipper! (Cannot clean a hook eye or freely rotate the cutting blades) Needs a better design. Nippers work ok, but are easily lost or dropped without the Pin-On."

First nipper,
July 30, 2007
By Display
from Orange, CA
|
"The idea of a nipper is wonderful. It is the perfect tool to quickly tie your line while fishing. What I got was a nipper that kept stabbing me. The eye clearer was mounted like a point that stuck out from the end. There was no way to push it farther inside the nipper. I am requesting a replacement nipper."
