This tippet material isn't stiff or kinky like other fluorocarbon leader materials and has relatively low memory so it relaxes and straightens out. Grand Max also delivers exceptional knot strength, retaining up to 97% of its unknotted strength when tied with an improved clinch. And its refractive index rating a measure of visibility is much lower than other materials. Comes in 25-meter spools.

Nice product,March 2, 2009
By FlyFishRivauxCreekfrom Jefferson City, MO
"Never used this brand before. I usually use Rio fluoroflex plus. However, the product seems to hold up well and I couldn't pass up the deal. I like the fact that I could get an 8X in fluorocarbon for small stream fishing."

Grand Max Fluorocarbon Tippet Material,January 20, 2009
By Elisfrom Northwest California
"Expensive, but the best I've found, and I've tried many brands. Strength for diameter is excellent. Great knot strength and does not seem to deteriorate over time. I've been pleased with its performance for trout, bass, salmon, fly fishing or conventional. Highly recommended."

Travel Tippet,January 20, 2009

"The only tippet I ever use because of its strength and resistence to cutting. Going to Argentina for Sea Run Browns again and using only Seaguar grand Max."

Better Set that Knot Hard!,November 18, 2008
By NaplesFlyfisherfrom Naples, Florida
"A premier flurocarbon with unmatched thinness. However, I lost several fish( jacks and snook) that struck hard. The usual hand pressure wasn't sufficient to set the knots. Mostly noted failed blood or barrel knots. I then switched back to Seaguar's regular fluorocarbon leader and didn't have the problem with my knots slipping. I'd recommend this product only if you have pliers handy to allow you to tighten the knots further than what you can with just your hands."

Seaguar Fluorocarbon Tippet,October 8, 2008
By Garrettsdadfrom Denver, CO
"This tippet has next to no memory. One other thing I like about this line is the small bit of stretch it has, this helps to protect some of the smaller tippets. Great Product!"

Definitely 5 stars,August 18, 2008
By Vineyarderfrom Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.
"I have used this product for a number of years, and the knot strength is excellent. Obviously, I have not tried all types of leaders, but I'd be surprised if anything could beat this. A friend of mine once operated a business that featured many kinds of lines and leader materials. He had specialized testing equipment and found Seaguar to be the best."

seaguar grand max fluorocarbon,November 21, 2006
By piscatorialpaulfrom western washington state
"for trout fishing this is simply the best I have used. I check the knots when fishing and I have never had a break yet. I fish with confidence also using this tippet for bass. If you have a good hook with Grand tied to it the fish is coming to the bank!"

Seaguar Grand Max Fluorocarbon,November 20, 2006
By JB3905from Allegany, New York
"The price of a spool of tippet material kept me from purchasing it in the beginning but I can say one thing, "It catches fish". I'm a Great Lakes Steelhead Fisherman and when the water in the tribs is clear, the secret to catching steelies is the right tippet, a small fly and the correct presentation. I switched to Seaguar because I believe that it is the stealthiest on the market. But it hasn't been without growing pains. First I had some trouble tying knots in the fluorocarbon. They kept slipping. Then it's hard to see 6X or 5X material when your replacing a section of the tippet streamside. This is because the diameter of the material is smaller than others and it's almost invisible in your hands. Another problem I have is keeping the split shot in place. This fluorocarbon is slick and my split shot keeps sliding on my leader after a few casts. I even tried the little trick of putting a piece of rubber band in the split with the leader before I pinched it down but this didn't stop them from moving. Now I just place them after a blood knot on the leader. After all, the question is, do I still use Seaguar Grand Max. The answer is easy... Do you like to catch fish?"
