French spinner blade lure kit,
August 10, 2009
By yumikayla

"I purchased this product thinking that I needed nothing else to make the lures I wanted; however, I discovered that a special tool is needed to make the lures.
I admit that I did not perform a thorough research before making my purchase; I should have known that this tool would need to be purchased in conjunction with my lure kit.
I will definately be more cautious with future purchases. I wish that Cabelas would include in their product descriptions any tools that may be required with the product they are selling."

Very nice do-it-yourself kit!,

"Very good kit to try creating your own french spinners. Note for European customers - blades sizes are 0-3 according to European classification. Comes with no directions, so it's hard to decide the amount of weights for each blade size. But I've counted all components and created spinners with following weights (s-small ball, b-big ball): size 1 - 1b+1s, size 2 - 1b+2s, size 3 - 2b, size 4 - 2b+2s. After creating all blades I have only a couple of small weights left. Looks like they were added because it's very easy to loose small weight when you create a lure. So it's a highly recommended kit to try!"

Spinner Kit,

"This spinner kit has all the parts needed to make very efficient and productive spinners. I have had great success with the spinners produced from this kit. They will hold up to big fish abuse, I landed a 16 lb salmon on a size 1 while trout fishing. I order a kit a year to keep a constant supply on hand."

Spinner Lure Kit,

"Nice kit for making light-duty lures. These lures are perfect for small trout and pan fish. The hardware in the kit is not large enough for bigger game fish like Steelhead or Salmon. This is a good starter kit to get you into the hobby and learn the methods for making lures."

Great Craft Project,
May 15, 2007

"I got this kit to help five neighborhood kids get into lure making. These kids are graduating from bobber and bottom fishing but the cost of lures were out of their allowance budget. The kit comes with all the fixings to make the lures and that's the wonderful aspect of the kit. I have the wire forming tools to finish the lure so that made the job easy and fun for them. The bigger kids were able to use pliers to twist the wires but the smaller kids needed the wire forming tools. They loved to experiment with different configurations and combinations although I used a standard example to show lure balance and sizing. They also loved to add color. The wonderful part of this experience is that the kids had fun making the lures and then testing them on the city lake catching trout, perch, and bass. You should see their faces when the spinner actually spins as they test them at the dock. And then the excitement of catching fish with a lure they made. Some were lost in the weeds. But, hey, it's cheaper than store bought."

Very good product,

"This kit is full of quality parts. If you fish for trout with spinning gear you know that the brass/gold finish French style spinners are a must-have. I would recommend buying a wire bending tool to complete the end loops for a better finished lure. Also you can get a fly vise and dress the hooks with feathers or bucktail to make them just as good as the name brand lures of this type. I've used these lures from Missouri to Montana, and they CATCH FISH!!!"

"I got this kit for Christmas and it contains excellent quality materials. I think it would be good for beginner lure makers. I think a closed-loop wire former would be helpful."
