"My husband and I are new to dehydrating. I knew we wanted one with a fan to dry evenly without turning, etc. This worked great. We had great jerkey on the first try. Now I'm excited to make yogurt, fruit leathers and candies.
I wish the instruction book came with more detailed recipes. I gave it 4 stars because of construction (the whole thing is plastic and it doesn't seem like you're getting much). However, it's light to move it around and the plastic trays clean easily without staining.
I would recommend this product!"

"This dehydrator has been in our family for almost 15 years and still operating like new. We had another dehydrator but you always had to rotate the trays and it took double the time to dehydrate the same items then this vantastic item. We even use 1/4" slices of meat for making jerky and after being in the dehdrator for about eight hours is just right for us. I believe you would enjoy this dehydrator much like we have and have many years of use, definately a plus for your money and then some! We also like the temperture control for other uses then just meat."

"Simple, easy to use, easy to clean up. I put my jerky in when I go to bed and take it out in the morning. Only thing is if you are going to do alot, get the 9 tray. Will hold a little over 2 pounds of meat if you get it sliced thin. I made several different recipes and put them on seperate trays. Worked out great."

"Heard many horror stories about dehydrators from the in-laws. This one is very quiet and so far has done a great job at everything we've thrown in it. We've made jerky, fruit leather and some assorted fruit crisps, all came out really well. Fruit leather is kind of a pain without the sheets, they will stick to plastic wrap pretty badly but you get by this way. I would recommend buying the paraflex sheets if you plan on making alot of fruit leather type stuff. Works great for making baby snacks. Cool thing is the wife forgived me forgetting valentines day because of this thing. That my friend makes it a great buy."

"Our dehydrator delivered exactly what we were hoping for- delectible little beef jerky treats with no fuss or bother or leaving the oven on for extended periods.
I was a little disappointed in the quality of the unit itself. Construction materials were a little cheesy- very lightweight plastic trays, etc. For the price- it seems they could have stepped up the quality a bit."

"Perfect for drying 5lbs of meat. Seemed like it took a little long to do the job, but that could have been due to the thickness of the strips and it was my firstime making venison jerky. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars and I also haven't tried to dry anything else yet. Just better cut it thin. Overall I am extremely happy with this product. The jerky tasted great and know one got ill."

"I looked at several dehydrators before buying the excalibur. I settled for the excalibur because of its construction and the fact that you do not have to rotate trays. "The description of the dehydrator is a little off, it doesnt seem to dry the jerky as fast as mentioned in the information stated about the unit. However for the price it works just fine, it usually takes about 10 hours to get the jerky dry so sometimes you are having to start the jerky early in the day or setting alarms so that you can wake up and check the jerky."

"I really enjoy making jerky with the meat I receive after harvesting a deer. I first started making it in the oven. The results of that were very unsatisfactory. A friend gave me a batch he made in a dehydrator and I found it to be much better. So, I tried a budget dehydrator. It worked, but took nearly 18 hours to dry the meat completely. I would constantly be flipping and turning the jerky, switching the trays, breaking off finished parts of pieces while allow unfinished portions to continue drying. It was a really slow and tedious process to the point that I didn't want to make jerky anymore.
I saw the Excalibur on Cabelas.com and was skeptical. The price was three times more than the unit I had. What made it so special? I decided to try it. WOW, what a difference. The Excalibur dries evenly, without the need to constantly flip and fiddle with the meat. It dries several hours faster as well. Clean up is easy and it stores just as easily. You can season and cure your meat, put it in the Excalibur, and go about your day without worry. Check the jerky periodically, and once one peice is done, the rest is done (but for maybe a peice or two that was thicker than the rest). This dehydrator makes jerky making easy and fun again. The four tray is perfect for those who want to make about three pounds (ground) of jerky at a time. If you are one who makes 10 or 15 pounds at a time, upsize to the larger 9 tray Excalibur.
As you can tell, I am VERY pleased with this item. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys making smaller amounts of jerky, without any hassle."

"This dehydrator is probably the best one on the market for the money. I tried to order this dehydrator through the company that makes it but they don't ship to Military APO/FPO PO Boxes. That's when Cabela's came to the rescue. I placed my order with Cabela's and they shipped it to my APO/FPO overseas miltary address and I received the dehydrator within 4 weeks.
