"These Irish Setter Slip-ons are the finest, most comfortable shoes ever on my feet. Takes 2-3 days to get used to the form fitted upper above the ankle. The webbing keeps them snug. I also add inexpensive ($4)inserts in them as I do all my shoes for soft heel support. But, wow, what comfort. Well worth the price. I have owned them for several weeks now, wearing them to work and casual dress. Plan to put many miles on them. You will not regret buying these shoes (boots)."

"my first pair were great for work. i wanted something i could wear out on the job (i'm a general contractor who does a lot of exterior carpentry, decks, and woodworking) that would be comfortable, weather-resistant, breathable, etc. in all different weather. i also wanted something i could easily take off if i needed to do work inside a client's home to do work. the first pair fulfilled all the above requirements and held up very well to lots of hard work/abuse - regular carpentry, excavation, concrete pours, comfortable wear in the shop. i was surprised they held up so well for over two years of pretty rough use for a casual boot. the second pair has been comfortable, but two weeks into wearing them, the breathable webbing has started coming loose from the leather uppers. it doesn't seem to have been captured by the seam. i'm definitely disappointed to have to ship them back to cabela's just as i've gotten them nice and broken in. but these are red wing boots and their performance so far is not acceptable. cabela's customer service on this has been great so far. luckily my old pair still has enough life in them to get me through the next few weeks, while i wait for my replacement pair to be sent.
i would still recommend these boots, though i am now a little more curious about cabela's brand of slip-on boots."

"This boot had no arch support. The boot had little to keep your foot supported while walking. The construction seemed to be quality, but little attention was put in to a ergonomic fit.

"This is my second pair. I wore down the first from 2003 to 2008. I thought you had discontinued this shoe line, but I found them at a store in the Chicago area. They didn't have my size so I called and ordered them on the phone. The shoes are a little big, but that's why I like them. They don't crowd my toes, and my favorite feature is that they don't have laces and they fit snug enough to not flop on and off my heel when I walk. They are good for rainy or snowy weather. They are perfect for traveling by airline. They slip off quick and slip back on at Security. They look nice enough to be a little dressy and they don't need lots of shining all the time to stay nice looking. I should order another pair before you discontinue them. Marto"

"I've worn Irish Setter boots since I was a kid (40 years ago!)working construction and came to count on the durability, comfort and build quality they are legendary for. These boots are no exception. They are surprisingly easy to get on for "high tops" and once on they fit like slippers. They feel very stable and are very comfortable to walk around the work site in. They are also very attractive and I've received many compliments. They look great with jeans or Dockers! I can't evaluate how they will hold up, but if they are like ever other Irish Setters I've owned, they will wear like iron and give great service for many, many years before I need to get them re-soled. I am delighted to still be able to pay good money and get a true quality product. For less than a C-note these are a real steal!! Buy with complete confidence."

"I've had my Irish Setters about 2 years now and am just now starting to think about another pair. Mainly because they are starting to look a little rough. I'm pretty tough on shoes and have had one foot rebuilt so I'm particular about my footwear. Usually I need a laceup because of support issues, but these have been great. They're easy on and off because of the leather heel cup inside, but they don't slip on your heel like other non lace boots. I had worried a little about the elastic wearing out, but it's held up great. The soles are real tough compared to my other boots and shoes. I'm not much for care of my work shoes, but I rewaterproofed these after the 1st year and have never been wet. Overall I'm amazed at how well they've held up to what I do. I've owned Wolverines, Timberlands, Dunhams, Georgia Boots, Carolinas, Redwings etc. and quality wise I don't think I've had a better made boot than these. Definitely would recomend these and this company. Two thumbs up."
