Push through whitewater or carry gear for a long packing trip with a River running/Tripping or
Touring canoe from Old Town. Built to handle heavy use, these canoes are rockered for
maneuverability and have deep and flared ends for dryness. Strong hulls are designed with a
multi-laminate, Oltonar/Royalex™, that sandwiches a vinyl skin over an ABS foam core for
resilience. As a result, you get a hull that is impact and abrasion resistant. Take one of these
canoes on a week-long backcountry outing, or pack the family along for a leisurely day outing.
Tripper - An Old Town standard, the time-tested Tripper is a superior wilderness canoe. A high volume hull, with a deep V entry, paddles easily with a heavy load to cross rivers and lakes, and the shallow arch design gives stability for whitewater adventure. Forgiving and stable, the Tripper is 17'2" long and 37" wide. And with a load capacity of 1,100 pounds, you don't have to worry about overloading. Each canoe has black vinyl gunwales with aluminum inserts, polyethylene decks with grab handles, contoured and comfortable seats and an ash-carrying yoke and thwart. Weight: 80
lbs. Depth: 15".
Color: Green.
XL Tripper - Same great features as Old Town Tripper with a longer hull and larger carrying
capacity.
Weight: 105 lbs. Depth: 16.5". Color: Green.
Appalachian - Capable of
handling
Class III whitewater, the Appalachian is as practical
for
running rapids as it is carrying the family out for a day. With a carrying capacity of 1,075 pounds,
you can carry plenty of gear and supplies, and the 16' length and 35" width provide stability.
These canoes have excellent maneuverability in rapids and flared ends for dryness and buoyancy.
Easily handled by one or two people, the Appalachian has vinyl gunwales, polyethylene decks,
nylon web seats, grab loops and ash yokes and thwarts. Weight: 67 lbs.,
Depth: 15".
Color: Green.

Old Town Tripper,December 28, 2007
By Buchholzfrom Fertile, MN
"My family and I made Three trips to BWCA in northeastern Minnesota last summer. The Tripper is a VERY stable canoe perfect for a family. It seemed even more stable when loaded. We came across a big lake with the wind creating white caps, and never felt like the canoe was in danger of capsizing. The Royalex Hull bounced off rocks no worse for the wear. The only draw back is the weight, it can get heavy on long portages. If I ever go solo, I would buy a Old Town Pack!"

Old Town Appalacian,May 10, 2007
By ArticJohnfrom Olympic National Park, WA
"Had it drop shipped cross county. Shipping not fast, but arrived without a hitch. Owned this boat for 18 months now. Boat is a good tandam whitewater tripping boat. Handles well in movung water and takes a beating. Even used it for lake tripping and its not bad with a full load, though kindof barge-like. Used it for lake fishing as well and its fine, tough it takes a fair amount of work to keep tracking straigt and weathervaines in the wind due to its rocker. All in all it works well doing the moving water it was designed for and is a passable substitute for lake use."
