Great, September 9, 2009
By novahunter33 from PA

"I got this to redo some ghg shell heads. I decided to also do the tails and the base of the necks. They look great. I have done 6 so far and they look extremely realistic. The tails definatley add some realism and take the glare off. There is plenty of flocking to do more than 12 heads."

Be ready to us it., July 26, 2009
By birddogchad7 from new mexico

"Make sure you have some where that you can use this product out of the wind. It looks good on my decoys but I think it might have to much shine. I would recommend this product to some one who has decoys that have removeable heads. It is pretty tough with decoys that don't."

it works as advertised, August 16, 2008
By safcrkr from northern WI

"This kit really works as advertised. Is it messy? Yes. Is it "easy"? No... but it's not too hard either, and is definately worth the effort!!! The hardest part was masking the areas you don't want flocked, because once this stuff is on, it's not coming off very easily. It doesn't look like there's very much flocking in comparison to the glue in the kit, but it goes a long way (provided you save the excess for re-use).

For cleaning the decoy heads before use, I used Simple Green (it makes a GREAT gun cleaner too). Spray some on, let it set a few minutes, then hose it off. I also did the "flaming", which is no big deal (not sure it was necessary, as Simple Green will remove every trace of oil, but I did it anyway - except on my silhoueetes). After they were dry, I masked the bills, cheek patchs, and eyes, using standard masking tape and an exacto knife. The glue is somewhat runny, and the tedious part of masking off these areas IS necessary.

When applying the flocking, I spread sheets of newspaper out on my garage workbench, rather than trying to catch the excess in a box or bucket. DON"T use this kit indoors, as it gets on everything nearby - but does vacuum up easily - and don't try it outside unless there's absolutely no wind, as you'll lose too much of the excess flocking to the breeze. I used a small square plastic container (normally used by my wife for storing leftovers) to "sprinkle" the flocking on the heads. After doing one or two, I'd pick up the top sheets of newspaper, fold in half, and "pour" the excess flocking back into the container.

I had enough to cover a dozen Flambeau magnum floaters, a dozen Carrylight floaters, and I did my 3 dozen Real Geese silhouettes too (and I still have about 1/4 of the flocking left). After 10 years of hard use, the black parts of the Real Geese were starting to look a chalky grey... this brought them back to life for sure.

Flocking kit, February 11, 2008
By rockingkkk from colorado

"This kit really did a great job on my decoys. Really made them look real and keeps the morning sun from reflecting on the heads. One suggestion - give us a bigger brush! Brush with the kit is Way too small. Time you get the glue on the head, it's starting to dry."

Awesome Product, October 24, 2007
By hawk125 from Northwest Indiana

"I purchased some non-flocked heads a few years ago and had considered the flocking kit, but was not sure how they would look. I have to say they look great, just as good as my flocked heads that I purchased. I will tell you that this product is messy, however, a few suggestions to help you along the way. First off get some rubber gloves and a few plastic bags that you get from the grocery store when you buy your food, and a five gallon bucket. You will want to put the bag in the bucket to catch the access flock, use a rubber band to secure the bag once the flock goes in, the bag will start to fall into tthe bucket if you don't this way you can reuse the flock. You can use a board with some finish nails to allow them to dry, DO NOT lay them on the flock, they wont look good once they dry.

DONT WORRY there is plenty of flocking material, I did eight heads with three layers and I have enough left over for two dozen heads.

Cabela's flocking kit, October 23, 2007
By Njoyinglife40 from Lebanon, Ohio

"The flocking kit applied fairly easy. I dont know if the use of the blow torch is really warranted. I think it would be easier to use mineral spirits and soap and water to get any oils and residue off the decoys. The main thing is to be real generous with the adhesive when you use it and dont tap on the decoys until after they have set overnight. Overall it made the decoys look more life like."

Flocking Kit, August 31, 2007
By michelin from Norwalk ct

"I would give it more stars if possible.

I did 18 regular size geese and still have enough for 18 Brant.

The blowtourch went smoothly with no events.--I tried it first on an old shell head --no problems

Instructions could be expanded as follows.
1) I would reccomend putting a plastic small garbage can liner in a 2 1/2 gallon pail.
2) after masking off the bill eyes and cheekpatch and applying the glue hold the head over the pail and generously sprinkle the flocking material ( using your hand ) . Then tap the head to get ride of the excess flock. you can reuse the flock that has goen into the liner.
3) having fastened 3 inch finishing nails to a 1 x4 6ft board place each head in a finishing nail in the upright position to dry.
4) I gave the heads two applications of flock.
5) The flock looks like graphite fines that we used to process when I used to work with a graphite manufacturer, if I had know that years ago I would have gotten some right away.

Great product hope it holds up as well as it looks.

Flocking Kit, July 15, 2007
By NDTerminatior from Devils Lake ND

"Picked up a flocking kit to do half dozen G&H Super Mags. I'm extremely "project challenged", but had no problem flocking these heads (other than spilling about 1/4 of my adhesive). I would guess the kit will do a dozen super mag heads, probably 2 dozen mags or standards. The end result is very impressive as the decoys are much more realistic. The mess factor is large, but the clean up is easy. The adhesive cleans up with warm soap & water, hands with Lava soap, and spilled flock vacuumed right up with a shop vac. A couple hints; the adhesive is runny, so fully mask the cheek patches, eyes, and bill. I used a 5 gallon bucket to catch excess flocking, and this worked very well. I rate this kit 5 stars, even before seeing how the flocking hold up to hunting use. It will be easy to repair any wear with a touch of leftover adhesive and flock..."

Cheapest way to beaf up your spread!!, December 27, 2006
By NPgooseKiller from New Plymouth, Idaho

"You can do 2 dozen or more with this kit. I just did a dozen and still have half the bag left. If you were to buy replacement heads it would cost the same amount for only 6 heads. This is the way to go, turns out just as nice.

If your worried about the process, don't be. You wash, you burn, you apply glue, you sprinkle. The whole process took me an average of 6 minutes per head.

If your like me the burning part scared me at first. It's not a big deal. You just run an open flame over the head and your done.

Well worth the money. If your geese aren't flocked you are missing out!

Flocking Kit, November 27, 2006
By killzone1998 from Columbus, NE

"I purchased the kit this past summer to flock my big foot goose decoys( one dozen due to expermenting). It was really easy to apply the glue & the flocking material and I was surprised how far the contents went. The heads really look good and have added to my spread. ( not just my opinion).

One head has not held up well but the remainder seem to be doing well. I have not given them any special treatment in handling. Actually I have been picking them up by the head to test them. They hold up well, but more care would be an advantage. Heating the heads with a torch was a scarey thought but turned out not to be that big of deal. You can tell when the heat is effective, but not harmful.

I am seriously thinking of doing my 747's ( big super shells) heads next summer.

By the way, we did have two flocks of Canadas decoy this past Sunday very well. Shooting could have been better (3).

I hunt between Silver Creek, NE & Duncan, Ne where water is very, very, very, slim so I think the product dressed up the spread.

I am 56 yrs old & have been hunting waterfowl since my father could carry me and my 410 across the river, so i have seen a few decoys!
