Great, durable boots,January 6, 2009
By Adk46Rfrom Liverpool, NY
"I just saw these on cabelas.com while shopping for something else and I'm glad to see they still sell them! I've had a pair of these for bout 10 years and love them. They are very comfortable once broken in which took me about 3 hikes. I've hiked over 1/2 of the 46 high peaks of the Adirondacks with them and they have proved durable. They have never leaked in downpours or in the mud or wet snow. I had to have one of the seems stitched a couple years ago. The shoe repairman stitched completely through the entire boot and they still don't leak. If they ever wear out I'll be getting another pair."

Great Boot,November 18, 2009
By jea2from Stow, Ohio
"Overall I am pleased with these boots. I spent a good while trying on alot of boots trying to replace my Itailian made Vasques. I came across these on the web and decide to give them a go. They run a half size to big for me but the replacement was here in four days with no problems on the exchange. A bit of a break in period (4-5 weeks) and about thirty miles but they are working in just fine. Certainly will recommend to friends."

Very happy!,November 2, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Laramie, WY
"Good overall! Need some break-in before they fit great. I put on some gators and never had a problem with heat, snow, cold, or moisture. That after hot antelope hunts and miles of hiking after elk in ankle to knee deep snow.
My boots fit best with a thick pair of ski or wool socks. When doing a lot of uphill hiking, I would get a blister on my heels with just plain white socks. Never noticed any problems with the thicker socks on any terrain. On the flats it made no difference in what type of sock I used.
The soles are hard, not good on slick icy surfaces. They do fine on rock and bare hills, or even in powder snow.
I noticed a little wear on the strings so far, but not enough to encourage me to replace them yet. The boots themselves are tough too. While trying to get some 4-wheelers unsuck, I had my foot/boot ran over a couple times and it didn't leave a scratch.
I would highly recommend these boots, especially if you're looking for a boot that pretty much can do it all and be your go to boot, as long as you have some gators for the deeper snow. I ordered my usual shoe size and like I said before they fit best with a thick pair of socks."

"Hiked the North East for 9 days straight. Comfortable from the first day to the last. Wore the Vasque Sundowner for 5 years prior. They tore up my feet and were squeaky and heavy. Wish I would have bought the Cabelas hiker a long time ago."

Best Boots Ever,October 7, 2009
By Boots365
"I wear my boots everyday, summer, fall, winter, spring and in rain, snow and extreme heat, these boots are really comfortable. I have tried many other makes and have been very disappointed mainly because the boots haven't kept my feet dry.
My first pair are over a year old and are still going strong but I have just bought a second pair because I just can't bear not to have this particular boot.
Excellent Boots."

Durable and comfortable,September 2, 2009
By Leconte4afrom San Diego, California
"I have had a pair of these for 8 or 9 years, probably when they were made in Italy. The full leather construction gives good support yet they are light enough for day hiking. I have used these boots for dozens of backpacking trips and hundreds of day hikes. The soles are getting worn and the leather scuffed but the boots are very comfortable and still structurally sound. The lacing system is not as good as found on more expensive boots. You will replace the laces before long, the tension isolation hooks do not work and the upper lace hooks bend out when snagged on brush. So far I have been able to bend them back without breaking. I get effective tension isolation with a overhand knot after the fixed eyes and just hope I don't finally break the upper lace hooks off. Seems like they would improve the lacing system on boots that are very well made in all other respects."

"This is the 5th or 6th pair of this boot that I have bought. I wear the new ones to the office, the next pair when I work out doors and the next pair when really bad conditions exist. The never come apart. Strings wear out first."

Mountain Hikers,August 24, 2009
By WD2525from Colon, Iowa
"This is my sixth pair of these boots, over the past 12 to 15 years. I usually get 2+ years wear out of each pair. I always try to have a new pair on hand in case they stop making them. I liked them better when they were made in Italy. They always fit like a glove right out of the box. They are now made in Romania. They are a very close 2nd to the Italian made. These sometimes squeak when walking, which gets kind of annoying. They are still the most comfortable hiking boot I have ever owned. Thanks Cabela"

Great Boots cheap Laces,July 31, 2009
By Nordfrom Rocky Mountains and Plains of Colorado
"This is the second time I have purchased this boot. I walk my black lab 4 miles a day in snow, rain, mud and rough terrain each and every day. I also do a lot of upland game bird hunting. The boots are great. My first pair is going on 3 years but are showing the wear and tear. My biggest complaint is the boots came with 10 cent shoe laces. Why? I immediately rip them out and replace them with a piece of parachute chord of the proper length. I hate it when I am in the field and my shoe laces break!"

Old School Quality,May 19, 2009

"I have been wearing Danner 453s. They like most footwear are made in China to a generic sizing patterns. The Mountain Hikers are made in Europe and have a true to size fit. After receiving the first pair and seeing the quality and loving the fit, I ordered a 2nd pair in case they became unavailable. Great boots."

mountain hikers boot,April 20, 2009
By 4570govtfrom arlington,va
"I bought these boots for their stiffness to use in competitive high power rifle shooting which is standing position only. These boots have one piece leather on the sides which makes the boot have ultimate stiffness, just right for standing position. Every little bit helps. This competition's rules maintain the equipment can't be anything made specifically for competition, and indeed, must be something that can be used for hunting. Again, these boots fit the bill exactly. Could be used for hunting, but in this case, just won't be. I have already owned the cordura sided hiking boots which are named Mountain Hiker II boots. I've gone through two pair, and am on the third pair of those. They currently are my shooting boots, till I bought these new leather ones. They were stiff as well, and very comfortable. I expect these new ones to be even better."

"This is my second pair of this particular boot. I bought the first pair about 8 or 9 years ago and had a real hard time wearing them out. They fit great, then as now, right out of the box and needed no break-in to be comfortable. If I'm still around, God willing, in another 8 or 9 years when I wear these out, I'll be buying another pair. You can count on it."
