Good gear,
November 18, 2009
By Darrellthetreeguy

"This is a great piece of gear that does a smooth job of cuting deer brisket with the fine blade and cuts though limbs with the coarse blade. A real dear hunter's friend. Carring case is just an added bonus."

"I thought since I purchased the cheaper Gerber saw that I would regret it but so far, not. It fits into my pack well and is great for clearing branches and even small sapplings. No complaints!"

Not 2 Good,
November 3, 2009
By Diboone
from Northern MN
|
"This saw cuts like a dream, but falls appart and breaks just as as fast as it cuts. I am on my second one, and am having about as good of luck with it as my first one. I have broke the folding/push button mechanisim on both of them. The $12 dollar coleman folding saw I bought works just as good and holds up much better. Plus if it breaks It is cheap to replace."

Perfect for my quartering needs in the field.,
November 2, 2009
By ColoradoJim2
from Rocky Mtns.

"I hunt in remote areas, so I skin and quarter in the field, so I can backpack out deer and elk. I had previously used the folding Sierra saw, but switched to the Gerber this year. It cuts better and is more secure from accidental closing. And I have the firewood blade in the case if I ever need it.
The blades can be easily changed, and you can purchase replacement blades. It works GREAT for me."

Gerber Saw breaking,
October 13, 2009
By bb1033
from Kansas
|
"I am totally disappointed with this saw. Its only a matter of time before the blade snaps or the locking mechinism breaks. Us advid hunters need a reliable saw when we are hanging in a tree putting up stands. And this is not the answer."

poor quality,
October 11, 2009
By Dunker34
from Iowa
|
"I have bought about 3 of these saws and they as they are handy, but the quality has deteriorated. The first one I bought years ago lasted for 3 or 4 seasons. It saw alot of use and held up. The last 2 I bought were junk. The locking mechanism and exchange system simply are not well constructed. I still like the idea of this saw but the construction is POOR. I won't buy another one and I would not recommend this product."

Gerber Exchange-A-Blade Saw,
September 1, 2009
By Renaco
from Lewiston, Maine
|
"This saw is excellent! I can talk about the wood blade only, since it's the one that I've been using, and let me tell you that it cuts without much effort and rapidly.. I do not have as, yet, experience regarding the longevity of this saw-blade, but after cutting a whole hedge, it's still as sharp as on the day of first use.
The saw is well constructed, and it's craftsmanship should serve the user well for a long time.
The only fault that I could find with this product is the fact that the -tightening knob tends to loosen-up during use, so, monitor it's tightness to prevent it from being lost! A little bit of a thread-locking medium would certainly help...Had this not happened it would have received a 5 star rating...
All in all, a great product! I would buy it again!"

"not the supplyer but the manufactureing it is not even close to the former product quality wise the lock that keeps the blades open is loose fitting and could possibly close during use . i have used gerber products for years and feel that even at the price given i dont think i will buy any of there products again poor manufactureing is the main reason there old exchange a blade saw was a really good product this one stinks !"

nice little saw,
July 21, 2009
By likedthem
|
"I would say that for the price this is a good item to keep in a gear bag. The blades are sharp and easy to change out. Some of the other reviews say that it breaks too easy - but I think as long as it is used for small cutting jobs there should be no problems - at least that has been my experience. Cutting breast bones and ribs off a carcass is easy and that is what I mainly use it for when dressing a carcass."

JUNK,
June 18, 2009
By AKfonks
from Bristol Bay, AK
|
"I got this to replace a older gerber saw I lost. Before I opened the package I read"Made in China" I thought gerber was American made? Upon opening the package and inspecting the saw I noticed the blade was thinner and crude compared to the worksmanship on my previous. Had to try it in the back yard before taking in the woods. Blade looks like a snake with scoliosis after cutting a couple small limbs. Going back or in the garbage."
