Pigeon Trap,

"I am a construction supt. We were building an addition on a school and during the construction many pigeons had made themselves at home in the ceiling/joist areas. After the windows went in there was no way to get them out. I set up the pigeon trap, feeding and giving them water first for one day before I put the trap in the same spot. Caught 12 pigeons total within 2 days and released them outside. This thing worked like a charm. We had our doubts but it was great. They love popcorn and bird seed. Water too was a big hit!!"

Slow Start,

"After reading the reviews I bought the Cabela's pigeon trap half expecting it to be destroyed upon delivery. I was happy when the product arrived in excellent condition. A friend got me connected with a local lumber yard that has a pigeon problem. It took nearly a week to catch my first bird. I should have read the other reviews closer (leaving the trap door open for a couple of days so the birds would get used to going in and out of the trap). Things have started to pick up. I'm up to 10 birds. At this rate I should be able to work my dog on a nice batch of birds every week until hunting season starts. They say that getting a young dog on birds makes all the difference in the world. It should be a great season!"

Great Trap,

"I baited the trap with the doors tied up and left it for 24 hours. I came back, closed the doors and baited mainly inside the trap. On day three when I came back the trap was full. 21 bird the first time. They could barely move around in there. I had to let some go just because they were crammed in there so tight. Very happy with the trap. I am looking forward to trapping again."

Pigoen trap works great,

"The trap worked great in my back yard. It came with plain galvanized wire, but I painted it green with some cheap spray paint. I don't know if the pigeons cared one way or the other, but I thought it might help keep the nosy neighbors from noticing it - that part apparently worked.
The pigeons wouldn't go in at first, but I just left it under the bird feeders for a couple of weeks with the doors fastened open. Then I baited it and closed the doors, and I had 5 pigeons in the trap within a few hours.
The trap I receieved was in very good shape and ready to use."

Good trap at a Decent Price.,

"Although some preventative measures could of been taken to insure that the cage was delivered with out any bends in it. (IE Styrofoam) The cage did arrive in pretty good condition. The condition of the cage was now so bad as to make it unuseable, it merely just made things a bit more difficult (Such as when trying to place seed in the cage.)
As far as trapping goes, it works just fine. As other reviewers have said, it would work better with individual trap door bobs, as to make it easier for pigeons to enter the trap (Less weight). One can still easily catch pigeons granted they know that they should leave the doors open for a few days with the seed inside before putting them down, since no instruction manual is available and there seems to be now device to hold the doors open, just tie them with a plastic bag or something.
Overall a decent trap, I have 4-5 pigeons up on my roof trapped right now."

"I found the simple design of this trap to be it's best feature. It took me longer to find a building manager who was willing to let me set up than it did to actually catch the birds. I used bait spread over a large area to first attract the pigeons from a roof top across the street to my location. Once I saw sign of pigeon activity I concentrated the food at the doors and inside the trap. The next day I had 4 birds in one trap and 5 in the other! Can't wait to put my dog on them this weekend!!!"

"I received it last night and it was a little bent up, like other reviewers (all the more reason to send UPS). But this thing works great.
I prebaited the flat the shed roof behind the local gas station with 2 handfulls of cracked corn scattered the day before. That night, I placed the trap on the roof with a little corn at each door and a pile in the center -- I opted not to tie up the bob doors for this first time around.
On the way to work this morning, I stopped by the gas statition to thank the manager for letting me set the trap (don't be afraid to ask, they're all happy to get rid of them). The pigeons were just lining up along the power line in the morning so I let them see me throw two more handfulls of corn up on the roof and then drove off.
By the time I got to work the manager called me panicked yelling "The trap is full, the Trap is full, come empty this thing!!" And this is a cold, rainy day in Michigan with a little snow -- horrible pigeon trapping weather by any standard. This thing already paid for itself based on the $6/pigeon that people sell them for."

"Trap could be improved by using individual pigeon bobs
so that birds have less to overcome to enter the trap.
However, I have trapped as many as thirteen birds in the trap
at a time by baiting it with the bobs tied up for three days to allow the birds to get use to entering the trap and then returning to rebait the trap (whole corn) and drop the bobs."

"This trap is awesome!! WIth a few piles of cracked corn insdie the cage, I caught 4 the first day, then 12, then 9!! I only knew of about 10 or so in the neighborhood... I guess they have alot of relatives!! What I have learned from various websites is; the key is setting the trap in location that is high enough for them to see and feel safe landing by/on and using cracked corn (purchased from your local feed store) as bait. Great product Cabelas'!!!"

"The trap is well made of heavy gauge wire. The design is nice with the door on top for removing trapped birds. Since I had never trapped pigeons before purchasing the trap, it was helpful that instructions on baiting and placing the trap were included."
