Follow Up,February 6, 2010
By Silverbama1225from Huntsville, AL
"This is a follow up on the original feedback on this wonderful spotting scope. I went back the next week and took the largest whitetail of my life. As described earlier, this deer had been spotted during a no moon, post dark, afternoon at 500 yards. I was about to pack it in for the day when I spotted some deer in the scope. An over look (without the scope) revealed that it was so dark, I could not see them. It was at this time, a large whitetail buck appeared. Now, I've used the gen I, NV scopes and the view I had at 500 yards was a very intense rival. Originally mentioned, 5 minutes and I would have needed a light to get out.
The next week, on opening day during a 90 degree afternoon, I got a close up look at this deer and brought him home. Mounted in the den, it was a great day of real INTERIOR DECORATING, the largest buck of my life. I have to say, I owe it all to this scope and Leupold! Thanks for a great product. Oh, it works well out west too. Just a daisy! Go do some INTERIOR DECORATING and express yourself. This hardwear is something you can depend on."

what a bargin,January 3, 2010

"I have tried cheaper and more expensive spotting scopes. What i can say is i bought this one here. Everything works the way it should clear, bright, easy hand controlls, large feild of view, and a nice eye relief. I was a little on the fence about buying this scope but after a year of ground hog, bear, deer, and predater hunting all i can say is wow. I cant believe I hunted so long without a great quality spotting scope. And to think I was going to buy another brand. My friends are hooked on this scope the are believers now too. If your in the market for a spotting scope Buy it you wont regret it."

By onionskinsfrom I hunt in canada over 50 days a year every year.
"The Leupold high def scope hade great optics and were clear as could be on my two week sheep hunt in british columbia canada. It is nice and light and a good size for carrying but I do have some complaints. The thing I found to be very annoying was when you tried to slowly fine tune the focus it would become sticky and shake the scope which in turn made it difficult to see exactly when it was in focus.I found myself going past focus both ways every time which took quite a lot of time and when the game was moving it was hard to keep up some times. I belive this is not a normal situation and will be sending it back for repair."

Leupold does it again!,December 12, 2007
By OregonWaterDogfrom Oregon
"I purchased this spotting scope prior to my Spring 2007 Bear Hunt on the Oregon Coast. I was able to sit well above numerous clearcuts and see specific details binocs wouldn't cover. If any of you have hunted the Oregon Coast or similar country, you know how many burnt stumps are out there and force you to constantly look twice, three times and then some. My hunting buddy swore up and down the stumps were bears, but once he looked through this crystal clear glass we confirmed it was a "stump bear". Leupold continues to develop and create top notch optics and I would highly recommend the Golden Ring HD line."

Dark Thirty Viewing,September 2, 2007
By SilverBama
"Recently purchased the Leupold 12-40x60 HD. The clarity is superb. Today while doing some Sept scouting in TN, I got to see just how awesome this scope really is and how much I'm going to enjoy it! While looking across a field when the sun had long gone down, I spotted a group of deer at about 500 yards. The contrast with this HD really made them stand out even in almost total darkness. I'd describe almost total darkness as the time when in 5 minutes you will need a light to see in order to walk. There was no moon so it was getting quite dark... you get the picture. Well, among the group was a 130+ class buck which I'll be hunting in 3 weeks on the season archery opener. The scope was set at about 15x to get every bit of available light. In looking over the top of the scope to see the big picture, these deer were just not visible. Awesome product and one I'll use in the South East as well as out west. Other benefits are its made in the USA by a company that stands behinds their products, it packed in my small fanny pack, compact, light and very powerful. No other scope I looked at met all these expectations. Hope this helps; "Skip all the shopping, get a leupold 12-40x60 HD and start hunting! You won't be disappointed!!""
