"Not a bad machete for chopping wood. A little more heavier than I expected, not sure why I didn't expect it to be heavier.
It needed a good sharpening when I received it, but after that it cut up trees nicely.
The handle does dig into your hand a bit, could use a handle that is so square.
Probably won't carry it regularly its pretty heavy, but its a good item to leave at camp."

"i have owned one of these machetes for around 10 years, so i have a few words to share from experience. extremely strong and reliable, though it is possible to bend the handle some :) good sharpness and the sheath is a thing of beauty, very strong and you can use it without looking. i saw one review that said the sheath wasn't up to snuff: maybe you don't have the leather and cordura for some reason? and you only need to use the very top snap to draw or reinsert it. i often carry mine with the top snap open because it sits so deep that it won't come out. smells great too, when new. the "saw" edge was altered by the company on the newer models. my first one had the single style teeth, the second one has the double set; that may be why the description was wrong. it does have some drawbacks: though the weight is awesome i could use a tad less thickness when it comes to resharpening angles, and blade penetration on a strike. also the handle needs a much bigger bird's-beek at the back to keep your hand on it better. a very small amount of curve along the edge would be helpful, and having the weight a bit more forward to help the swing. overall a great piece of work. i intend to always have one."

"Outstanding value. This is the tool one needs when things go sideways.
Low enough price that no one will be afraid to use it, high enough quality..... everyone will want to use it.
The sheath is of substantial quality as well.
Use the wrist strap, maybe some eye protection too, the wood chips really fly.
Much sharper than I expected it would be and it stayed that way even under hard use.
The handle is great too... no blisters."

Perfect for an ATV,May 9, 2008

"I was looking for something I could keep handy on my ATV for clearing low hanging brush with out leaving the seat. At the same time I wanted something that would work in tight spaces. When I first got it I took it out in the back yard and cut a little brush. But today I took it out to some over grown trails on my ATV with the Spec Plus mounted to the front rack. It was nothing to clear 2" branches in 2 or 3 hits. Handy enough to be used while sitting but the weight is enough to carry the blade deep into its target. A friend that went with me is going to be ordering one as he says it would be perfect for use on horse back"

"1/4 inch of carbon steel. I bought it specifically to chop/split yellow pine fatwood into small kindling sticks, and it worked great. Just got it started and commenced to beat the heck out of the back of the blade with a 2X4...and this was wood from near a root flare, so the grain wasn't straight. If you've split wood, you know how hard that can be. I'll pack it from now on when hiking or canoeing as well. Despite the ad, I don't think I'm gonna saw much with it, but that's fine. I've got good hand saws. If you break this on something other than superman's cranium, you're probably mean enough to just chew through whatever you're working on. Nice sheath too... it appears very durable and doesn't look cheesy, a la gas station rambo knife."

"Razor sharp out of the box and easy to get back into shape after using. I bought this item to do trail maintenance with our local hiking club. After a day of hacking at underbrush, the blade was still acceptable but I was able to get it back into shape with minimal effort. Good steel. Great weight for the heavier stuff."

"Good quality USA made knife... full 1/4" thick blade has some serious meat to it... The thickness of the blade (durability) was what drove me to this product over others, and I haven't been dissapointed...
The only reason that I didn't give full five stars is that the 6" (not 6.25") of saw teeth on the back of the blade are not double milled as advertised, they are single milled. This means that there is one row of 31 teeth instead of two rows of 23 teeth as in the picture. I can understand the reduction in manufacturing complexity, but should be reflected in the advertisement.
If accurately advertised, 5 stars all the way... Size and durability were my top priorities.
